larger injectors on n/a Q's

for the educated performance guys, would adding larger injectors to a 97 2.4 motor give a top end advantage? injectors of choice would be the ford brown tops, now along with this i would be adding nearly a complete fuel upgrade,

the mods to be added would be as follows.

ford brown top injectors
cartech 2025 fmu
afpr accell
blazer fuel pump
apex-i safc-2 to help out the idle of the car
as well as the car will be hptuned for further

now to accompany the new fuel upgrades, ill be adding a 58mm tb and a header to my cat back exhaust, as well as the big one would be a msd dis-2 ignition box to ensure all the extra fuel is burnt to its full extent

basically with that said, im looking for some advice if this will increase my top end power, or any power at that, boost is in the future so its going to be nice to have a fuel system thats ready to support it, but for the time being this is what i wanna do

so therefore,
what kind of gains should i expect in terms of top end or low end?
anything else i should consider when changing the fuel system like this?

thanks guys, look forward to any help and getting this on the go

begi 2025 is useful only for boost, they have other models for outta boost.... you already have this listed for outta boost FP (afpr accell )

apex-i safc-2 to help out the idle of the car
as well as the car will be hptuned for further

pick one of those, the top is completely useless if you get HPtuners.... mind you the afpr is also useless if you HPtune... hope that helps... I am running 650cc injectors with all stock fuel system.. just a 255lph pump.

HP Tuners | Garrett T3/T04B | 2.5" Charge Pipes | 2.5" Downpipe | 650 Injectors | HO Manifold | Addco front/rear | Motor Mounts | HKS SSQV | Spec stage 3 | AEM UEGO Wideband | Team Green LSD | FMIC | 2.3 cams | 2.3 oil pump swap | 280WHP | Now ECOTECED

Alright, for your mods, you wont need larger injectors. Only a serious N/A build would need larger injectors, and even those serious NA builds wouldnt need brown tops, nor your FMU. And if your getting HP Tuners, you dont need the SAFC. Get HP Tuners and that is all you will need for your NA tuning. I am not sure on the duty cycle taht the stock injectors run on the stock motor, but I am sure there is a little room for growth on the stock injectors as far as NA goes. Save yourself some money, and only purchase HP Tuners. Also to add, why not go boosted? I doubt you will see any kind of good gains with your mods you have now and even with the ones planned.

So I just read your full post, and your plans are to go boosted. But what you should do, is get some "secret cams" if you want to feel some sort of NA power. I could sit here for a while and talk about this, but the basic lesson here is, dont waste your money, use the best tool taht is at hand right now, and that is HP Tuners, you can edit limiters and such, I doubt you will need to do too much VE tuning with basic mods but I dont have any experience with tuning with basic mods so I wont talk about that, but, gotta head out.

Brown top are too big for a "stock" 2.4. You can use the 32lbs Ho injectors tough. The brown top are better for 230Hp +NA

great thanks for the answers guys, much appreciated, i have a buddy who has the hptuners so he will be tuning my car for everything, ive considered putting in the HO injectors, but like i said boost is in the future, but not NEAR future, none the less i appreciate the answers thus far, question for ge force, i will assume that ur running hptuners to handle those injectors without a afpr, fmu or nething, none the less this winter im attempting another turbo build, a mild engine rebuild is already in the works, new timing aassembly, water pump, secret cams, head gasket, jus the basics to make the motor a bit stronger

anyways anymore opinions, and comments, are most definatly welcome

unless you need the fuel, dont add more. SpeedRacer who probably has the highest hp naturally aspirated 2.4 on JBO still usess stock injectors... you dont need more.

I'll have to check my logs, but I ran out of fuel at 7000rpm or so on my eco, ford yellow tops are nearly maxed out.... its not because I need all of that fuel, but because at higher RPMs, the injectors arent open very long.

correction owen: KARO of car customs had the best numbers n/a with a 2.4
i do believe it was around 230whp
also im betting that his 170whp is attainable with a whole lot less mods and im sure that more than a few ppl on here are putting down close to that with less mods-N/A.

as for using bigger injectors...and having them help, im saying no.
my car has 270cc rc engineering injectors
supporting mods:
rk sport header, HFC, and full mandrel bent exhuast-magnaflow muffler
aem short ram
secret cams

the only reason im using them is for nitrous...but the car runs fine normally with them installed. but i really dont think i need them.

If your buddy is going to tune the car with HPtuners, then datalog the duty cycle and see for yourself if you need bigger ones. Anything over 80% duty cycle is pushing the limits of those injectors, anything less and you should be fine.

My NA 2.4 was pushing about 84% duty cycle at WOT top of 3rd gear.

15.3 @ 89.97mph, 14's on the way?
