For starters, this is on my 99 2.4. I had a spare 2.4tb, and a 2.3tb laying around, so I decided to put the 2 together to make one. I ended up taking both apart, and swapping the linkage and rod from the 2.4 into the 2.3 tb with its original plate. I machined the throttle body down so it closes up like stock and everything hooks up great. But when I put it on the car my initial throttle response from idle is delayed a bit, and then after a minute or so it just bogs and almost dies when you push the pedal in. I was thinking potentially tps, I just haven't had a chance to play with it again yet. I was also thinking the throttle stop might've not been machined down 97% but not 100%, so I ground on it a bit more. I should also add that fpr vacuum line is sharing a tee with the other smaller size vacuum line, since the 2.3 tb only has 2 vac ports.
I just figured I would see if anyone might have any other ideas, I'm going to try another tps tomorrow hopefully. I'm sort of worried that maybe the 2.4 rod end isn't seating properly in the tps and is letting it slip and get stuck at times... which would suck because I took some time to polish the new tb up a lot and it looks pretty sweet. Potentially I could slot the holes some to make it somewhat of an adjustable tps if need be, or get creative with some jbweld worst case scenario if that's the problem.
I've got the rest of the pics here if anyone is interested -

the lil throttle shaft that holds the throttle plate wont work with the 2.3l tps you need to to use the stock 2.3l t/b with no mods other than drilling the two holes bigger for the bolts
so 2.3l shaft = 2.3l tps
2.4l shaft - modding the 2.3l t/b to use the stock tps from the 2.4l
its probably the TB itself, I have the same one and have been dealing with the same issues for about 6 months now. I have another TB from a later 2.3 motor and Im hopeing it works better if not ill run the 2.4TB or put all the 2.4 gear back on. good luck though
yeah that is not the 2.3 tb you want to use , that is the early 92 and older tb
you want the late 92 and newer tb , it looks very close to the original tb
I just did the similar thing not to long ago. The machined 2.4 TB base, with the 2.3 plate. It is sitting on my work bench waiting for me.
I plan on using all 2.4 sensors.

What are the advantages of using a 2.3 tb over getting your 2.4 machined larger?

That's kind of what I was affraid of. Thanks guys, guess I'll start looking for the proper throttle body.
