Okay so I might be getting a Z24 here soon for a winter beater but it has a blown headgasket. So i'm just kinda of kincking around the idea of getting the thinner MLS gasket just for the hell of it.
But i'm just curious what the compression ratio would be with the thinner gasket (.030" instead of .040") according to jtuners site.
also since the head will be and i can probably find a set of secret cams really quickly, has there been any proof that these cams are worth it yet ? i know there was an arguement not to long ago but is there anything saying that these are worth it?
With a blown gasket and you just wanna get things together quickly/cheaply.
I say get the cams.
Wont hurt anything.

Remember....syringes go in the RED waste basket.
i think the compresion goes to 11 to 1
far as secret cams go. everyone says they kick ass. but no one has and dyno proof yet

really that high? whats stock compression ratio of the Twin cam? i'm assuming i should run higher octane with that high of CR. correct?
it won't get that high. just the head gasket will move it from .5 at most.

It wont go that high at all. Your stock CR is 9.5:1 and a gasket might change that a maximum of 9.7:1, which is the 00-02 LD9 CR. The argument I hear about the cams was it would help, but not a whole lot on a stock head. Ok i just saw you have a turbo, yes the cams will help you even more, i was thinking N/A.
I say go for it, all that will help a little bit.
my 2 cents^

99redz24 you were probably thinking of the 086 head swap. That takes CR up around 11.4:1. Thats what i am going to try and put together next spring/summer.

i actually don't have a turbo for the z24.. i have a turbo'd 2200. and working on building an ecotec to swap into the 2200 body, with a 5spd swap. the z24 is just going to be a daily driver with a lil pep.
but thanks for the help everyone..
like i said simple
