Hi im pretty new here so bear with me lol. I have a 98 pontiac sunfire 2.2L and im getting alot of afterburn. Would a new exhaust help eliminate that problem? and what would be the best SOUNDING muffler for a 2.2l? I dont want that FartCannony sound either.THanks!
Resonator for the fart can sound.
i said i didnt want the fart can sound
I had a exhaust system that was 2.25" all the way back to the muffler removed cat and resonator and had a 4" outlet on the muffler that had a deeper tone to the exhaust, is it automatic or manual?

To help the fart can sound. Most mufflers on our hunks of sh*t will sound like sh*t. We buy extra mufflers (resonators) to help it sound semi-decent, but still sounds like sh*t.
If you want good sound, go big

so what would your opinion be on going big? I was thinking something along the lines of flowmaster or magnaflow?
One small reason I got different car, 3" Tanabe catback nice deep tone, NOT FAT!!! lol Anyway I had a friend that had a magnaflow on his 2001 Z24 and it buzzed real bad.

is dynomax a bad idea for a muffler then?
i have an HKS style exhaust off ebay it does sound fartcannony like a honda, but has a deeper tone, sounds pretty nice. whole exhaust cost me like 250 shipped i believe and comes with a silencer

Way too big on a N/A car.
So would any of you recommend using a Dynomax street turbo on a 2.2L automatic?

I have a 2.25" all the way back with a resonator and a dynomax muffler on my cav..I love the sound of it
I have a 2 &1/4 exhaust with resonator and the Dynomax muffler, I am quite happy with it, was a little rattly before the car warmed up but sounded nice all in all....sounds even better now with the header.
I have a 2.2 ecotec 5spd though.......

I have one true love in my life...And my girlfriend sits next to me in it
