Hey Everyone
Right now I have a 2002 Z24 with the 2.2L Ecotec Engine. It is put away for the winter, should be coming out in about 4 or 5 months. Right now it is lowered, AEM cold air intake, B&M short shifter. Just picked it up, so haven't had much time or funds with it. I am going to be going to the track a lot with it in the summer. Anyone have any ideas as to what should be my next step to get some good track times. Of course, money is an issue, so I can't afford to go out and supercharge it. But any modification you guys would recommend would be great. Thank again.
whats your budget?

eh, how did you get a z24 with an ecotec? i thought 3rd gen j z24's only came with the 2.4?
u sure u dont have an ls sport?
A few NOS stickers and a wing should put you in the low 12s. In all seriousness though, a header would be a good investment and I believe they're might still be a group buy going on for headers, high flow cats and catback exhausts. Check that out and see if it's in your budget.

I had something really funny to put here but it was too long.
I was kind of leaning towards the header, cat and cat-back. And my apologies, it is an LS Sport. I am thinking parts budget of maybe 1500 or 2000 dollars, but it all depends. You know what I mean.

Modifications tend to compliment eachother.
You have an intake- work on getting that flowing air out of the engine. I'd go with a full exhaust, then some headwork.

Ok, so I have decided on header, cat, cat-back for sure. Most likely clutch and flywheel. Thats a pretty good start for an over the winter project. Then do some other small mods in the spring. Any recommendations on exhaust companies to go with. I have had a huge liking for the Borla cat-back system, however have not done any research on the other components on that car. What od you think will work best with the 2.2L Ecotec? Thanks again guyz...

I'm having some pretty good luck with my setup. The car is definetly fast. Check my registry for details..
its a bit higher than what you're looking to spend but if you do a lot of work yourself, the cost will stay down
at the minimum I would suggest getting this:
(order of importance.. + mods are complimentary to eachother.. * mods are REQUIRED to be together)
phase One
-header + full exhaust
-7000rpm rev limiter
phase Two
-larger injectors * HPTuners * wideband O2
-cams (raise limiter to 7700rpm)
-patriot stage 2 head + ARP headstuds
that'll make for a sickly fast all motor car, trust me
That is a good breakdown for what to do. I am going to call a customs shop today about the exhaust and HP Tuners. You would recommend setting the rev-limiter to 7000RPM? That won't cause any problems?
i dont know if any shops would mod a cavy's compter. you hae to do that yourself

I'm spinning 7500 repeatedly and have seen as high as 7700 if not slightly more on the stock bottom end.
HP Tuners you can do yourself it isn't hard at all. goto HP Tuners.com to buy HPTuners.
I strongly suggest the advanced input/ output version because it has a lot of features that are necessary when tuning air/fuel ratios (which is necessary when adding cams and spinning higher rpm as the stock injectors get quickly maxed out when hittin 7000 and tuning for a richer air/fuel ratio)
