Underdrive Pulley's??
Thursday, February 01, 2007 11:26 AM
We've got 2 97 chevy cavalier 2.4l. We were wondering what's the best underdrive pulley's to get for them and if the ones on Ebay that are going anywhere from$15 - $50 are actually worth it or not? Just looking for some input.

Thanks

i bought the rsm/z-spec 2.4 aluminum underdrive crank pulley off a very good seller on ebay, frankieZ something or other. it was only like $30 shipped i do believe, very good price. the pulley is very nice and is indeed the lightest on the market. i have yet to install it so idk if there will be problems or anything. but it looks like it will be just fine.

as far as ive heard the ebay cheapie "bomz" or whatever no-name ones that are on there work fine.

unorodox is probly the best quality made one... but, its the very most expensive one, if u keep an eye on the classisfieds u can find one somebody is selling for cheaper.

a member named "MD-LD9" has put the effort into making a stock sized one that is pretty light, i've heard his pulleys are top notch and of awesome quality and are decently priced. idk if he has any available for sale tho, pm him im sure he would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have.

there are others out there as well, if im not mistaken RK Sport made one as well, but im sure is high priced-if u can even get it anymore.

ive only heard BAD things about rsm basically nothing about part quality-only about customer service and such... nothing about the new company they turned into "Z-Spec" though, so if you were to buy from them, idk how good it will be.

all n all id say if you dont care about a "name" and dont mind it being a tad heavier go with an ebay cheapie one.

I have my own, and I am bias. If you can get a RSM/Z-spec pulley from FrankieZ, thats cool, but I wouldn't buy directly from RSM/Z-spec. RSM sells them for $125, as do I. Mine are not under driven, just lightweight, and stock size. FRankieZ bought all the stock from Z-spec when they went under...again. MANY people hate RSM racing, but I will have to say the pulleys are decent. Mine are better. but I'm bias. but I do have a FEW members on my side. lol

I am debating on moving to a new machine shop, from the lack of anything from my current vendor. He promises me I should have a few prototypes soon. I am sorry that I do not have a better update yet.

or the tensionor is SHOT. try a new tensionor and make sure u get the right size new goodyear belt and i think you'll find your sqeaking going away.
