Supercharger info please
Friday, February 16, 2007 10:59 AM
Hello Ive been looking into getting a supercharger for my 1997 2.4 cavalier. I currently have called the dealership in my area to ask on how to get one for my year. The dealer said that they only could get one for a 00 or newer for $1,900.00 . Well I didn't know if that would even work on my 97 2.4 motor? Is there a major difference in the 1997 2.4 motor than the 2000 2.4 motor?
Where would be the best place to purchase a supercharger that is made for my motor and year? I searched EBay but no luck. Will someone please give me some type of direction of where i need to get the supercharger i need for my Cavalier? Thanks for taking the time to read this. 4 life

There is no supercharger made for the 96-99' except for what used to be RSM. If you have HPTuners, you can make the GM supercharger that they sell for the 00-02' work.

so ok let me see if i purchase supercharger from www.paceperformance.com I only use the supercharger and the brackets, everything else sell on EBAY.(plugs, computer thing amabob, and injectors). Then buy a Fuel management system, HP fuel pump, and smaller starter. Is there is a chance would it be better to buy Just the supercharger by its self?

Unless you find it used, you'll never get just the s/c by itself. Plus you can't order the brackets separately.

ok, thanks. Would it cost less to turbo it? Rather then buy the s/c kit then sell the stuff i dont need and then buy aFuel management system, HP fuel pump, and smaller starter.

It is most likely trash, but it is for the 2.2L OHV motor. It wouldn't do you any good anyways.

He makes one for your 2.4L as well. You would have to either email him or wait for it to be listed. Otherwise, you can have a shop who is willing to make one for you fabricate it, do it yourself,...or if Exploited is still around, they made one for the 2.4L as well.
