i have a 2.2l ohv engine in my cavalier right now with pretty much every bolt on for it and its still not enough for me . so what i want to do is rip the motor out and either build this motor up and spend a @!#$ ton of money and turbo it or do the same but get a z24 engine or an ecotec ????? so my question is which motor is worth spending the money on and getting the best performance and i was also curious what is all needed to swap from my motor to a z24 or ecotec ?????? if anyone could help me out with this dilema let me know your opinion thanks
I built my 2.2L, it's cheaper and easier if you've never done a motor build before. And if you're going to turbo, the small gains from the DOHCs in stock form don't mean nearly as much in the end.

can anyone tell me whats up with which motor to go with please im trying to start doing this @!#$ soon. thanks
both the 2.4 and 2.2 eco can be made to have lots of power. eco has more aftermarket parts and support

iit depends on how big your budget is. personally, i love mt ln2, and will never have a cav with a different engine in it. build and turbo the engine you have now.

Not to mention, 2200's are a dime a dozen anywhere you go. so if you mess the first one up. you can get another for cheap. Theres a junkyard in my town here that has motors for $200 out the door. you pull it of course. but when i went, i found at least 7-8 98+ cav's with a 2200 in it, and more with the pre 98 2.2ohv in it. Im hearing more and more of 2200's being boosted. i say go for the gold with the 2200
