Pacesetter Header Q's
Sunday, March 11, 2007 5:33 PM
Hey, i'm fairley new to the .org, i've read a lot about all this stuff and im starting to modify my car slowly. i've got a weapon r intake, and im thinking of getting an exhaust. i'm just wondering if i could hook up a pacesetter 4-1 header (or any header really) then switch out for a high flow cat, then leave the rest stock. i'm going for the sleeper look so i dont want that really loud fart can exhaust. I've searched a few times with no answers... and i've checked numerous sigs to see if they would have the same ideas but everyone had a massive cat back exhaust. Would i have to make the rest bigger for it to work correctly?
Thanks,

you can just add the header. and/or the cat and leav the rest stock. but order to get most out of the header and cat, full exhaust is best.
you can add a resonator to queit the exhuast down. you can get one from magnaflow
contact a local muffler shop in your area to see if they can make an exhaust for you

Good though, but if you have hi flow exhaust parts then you restrict it with stock tubing, it won't help you at all. But if you get a long resonator (Search Thrush Magnum Glasspack on Summitracing.com) and have it placed between your car and muffler, it'll be a lot quieter and sound much much better.

Ok, so you're saying my best bet would be when i put the header on, do a full exhaust. But use a resonator to keep the sound down... lol, i know i shouldn't ask this but how much louder would that be over stock?

It really depends on the application and the length of the resonator, mine was loud as hell because I have two mufflers and at the time, no resonator. Now it's not too bad.
