got exhaust done, sounds very raspy

well i got my exhaust done today 2.25" mandrel bent with a gutted cat and a dynomax muffler (not super turbo). The exhaust sounds great with a nice deep tone at idle but boy does it sound like a fart can when you hit that gas even the slightest. The muffler i used i got for free so thats why i used it and its a straight through muffler (can see from one end to the other). Do you think if i got a muffler with chamblers that you couldnt see through that would fix the raspyness because i'd like to keep my gutted cat. The shop said they would rather change the muffler first and see if that helped instead of putting a glasspack in it as a resonator because they havent seen many cases where they quiet the exhaust done enough. Thanks.

Give me that dynomax lol, i just put on a pacesetter catback...talk about RASPY.

Oh and boosted you have any plans on going to the track soon? Me and my buddy with an 02 ls sport will be going to cecil within the next few weeks.

i'll sell you the dynomax no problem, i'll just need to figure out the shipping on it which shouldnt be too much cause i don't want it. The shop said they have turbo muffler with chambers in stock so they want me to try that one out, i didnt get it from willy because for the same price i got it bent and installed. Not sure when i'll be going to the track i still have to install my wideband and get retuned because the tune is outta wack with this cold weather.

If you could get me a pic maybe, to see exactly how :straight through" this muffler is lol. And the dimensions and how much youd want, which you can pm me all that. Depending on shipping I could prolly pick it up if was too much.

My friend was just at cecil last friday and ran a 15.6, but hes got mounts and a shiftplus on the way and wants to go back soon. Id also like to get some runs when I get a few more mods in.

gotcha...damn shop wanted 450 instaled....i got the pipe from willy for 240 and payed 75 for a magnaflow 3inch in 4 inch Tip muffler..and shop said around 50-75 to hang it up and weld it together...and the shop for 450 wasnt using mandrel bent....

Here is a video and some pics of the car, i think i'm gonna deal with the noise for now and get my wideband installed and get tuned before i take it back for them to swap out the mufflers or put in a resonator. I honestly feel anyway that i have gained some top end from going with a straight through muffler and mandrel bands, i had bends before that were 2" in some places.

the sound at the end of the video you hear is my moving something in the passengers seat, sounds like something bad but its not.

before

after

I did a post a while back that never made it into a stick with all the details but 12->16" would make a good resonator.
