what have some of you put down with your 4t40e's and the 2.4 for whp and wtrq N/A?

just trying to get an idea of whats possible out there. my car will have just about every bolt on possible this summer as well as a tuned ECM with hp tuners, headed to the dyno some time this summer as well, just would like to get an idea.

thanks!

after u get the hp tuners, make sure you post up results...i am curious how much of a difference it would make on my all bolt on 2.4 too.

not an auto, but with an intake, 2.5" catback (side exit) exhaust and a stage 2 clutch. i made 132whp and 141wtrq...no tuning

See sig.
Here what I had done.
Current Engine
# Modified Matrix Ram Air Intake
# Pacesetter Cat-Back
# AeroSpeed Muffler
# Ac Delco Spark Plugs
# Pacesetter Header
# Catco High-Flow Cat/Downpipe
# CarCustoms Upper & Lower Motor Mounts
# B&M Shiftplus
# Removed A/C Compressor & Condenser & Tubing & Evaporator
# A/C By-pass pulley
# 2000+ Starter
# Hyper grounded engine with 4 gauge wire
# Custom Made Lightweight Crank and Alternator pulley
# 2000+ Plastic Tensioner "pulley"

Here the video of the run. run was done in third gear. You can hear me hit the speed governor, not the rev limiter.

Can't find my dyno sheet. It USE to be on my cardomain page.

holy crap man, u acctually got 8whp and 6wtrq just by installing your pulleys?!?! NICE.

160whp... wow. im going to have more mods than that, as well as a tuned ecm. maybe im shooting a lil low at 165whp?

im going to have the following more mods:

ECM tuned by shifted
venom intake manifold
SMG 58mm TB
Secret cams
full intake (AEM short ram)
TTR upper mount

i basically have everything else you have as well, save for different versions and brands.

shiit... maybe i should hope for 175!!! idc who yar... 160whp from a frickn AUTOMATIC is impressive. nice work man!

I will stab myself repeatedly if that is all I put down when I eventually go to a dyno.

Brain, you should be up around 180hp probably.

Well,
Without F.I. and us being autos, I wouldn't expect the 200s going N/A

But at least you have the Yank converter and other things going for ya.
So 180 should be in your range.

I would be surprised if a auto 2.4 hit 180 at the wheels, unless it was a crazy N/A build.

I completley dissagree...but then again I have high hopes.

Well, HO cams should be at my doorstep soon, MS-II is the next mod, and Shifted's majic HPTuners will be the final piece of the puzzle. So I will be shooting for 200 whp eventually.

For now, 175-185 is the goal.

Sorry that my post made this thread digress. Ignore me and return to the topic at hand...

i have both, the car im concentrating on NOW is my white 98Z auto... but i also have a black 97Z 5spd awaiting some love.

im planning on pulln the current motor out of my white Z and putting it in the black Z next winter, the white car will hopefully see a fully built engine and boost next summer.

hmmm, i guess with everything everybody has said, maybe i should stick with my 165whp range for an estimate. i really hope that the new TTR auto tranny mount helps out a lot, it better for the $250.00+/- their charging for it.

Dang, $250?
Lil higher than expected.
Better get over to that thread.

But, I think if you could work out the HP tuners side, that would help us all out.

Mike, is 3rd gear the best to dyno our auto cars? I heard in HPtuners you can actually lock the tranny in 3rd gear so the ecu doesnt want to switch gears on ya.. I think Aaron(phlatcav) had his 3rd gear locked in..

IIRC... cant u just select "3rd" gear on the shifter and it wont go past 3rd? i know on a lot of newer gm cars u cant do this because the car automaticly shifts intself after it gets up there in the high RPM's... but im pretty sure my 98 wouldnt shift, it would just stay in the 3rd gear.

Yeah, you can just select it.. but after a while the car will want to shift once it reaches its shift point.. I was just wondering if you can just mess with something on HPtuners to actually hold it in 3rd gear longer so you can get the most power.. ?

Yea you can set the rpms it shift into 4th....

If you wanna 'lock' it into 3rd gear set it so it stays in third gear at only 10% tps position, I think that's how you would do that....

i dont understand... it will go all the way up to the rev limiter doing this... what gives?? my 5spd car only made power to 5900 with basic bolt ons and the secret exhuast cam... now my new motor will have much more done to it as well as the intake cam to, but i really doubt that it will make much after 5900 either. you could get all the way up to 6500 before the rev limter kicks in, so i think it would be fine... or is there something im missing here??

please elaborate

when they dyno'd my turbo'd 2200, they had to make sure theylet up on the gas before rev limitor, or shut off the info gathering before it shifted.. they said that it could skew the dyno results if they didn't...if thats true or not i don't know but thats what they told me

3rd is the best, I remember someone posting on how to do it with HPtunners.
