I'm upgrading my exhaust to 2.5" piping and curious as to what cat converter I should use. currently I'm running 2.25" on my LD9 and using a Magnaflow 91035 cat. I constantly have a CEL for the P0420 code. I've been told that this is because the cat that I have is too small to handle the flow. I'm wondering if going to the 91036 would be alright (same size as the 91035, just a 2.5" inlet and outlet), or should I use a cat that's a bit longer (the 94036).
this of course will be going in after my L61 swap, so this upgrade won't be used on the LD9.

I would get rid of the cat altogether. I put in two 18" resonators, coupled with a high flow muffler, and it sounds very nice. Plus, it looks like there is a cat and resonator in there, so the cops don't bother me.
Otherwise, if you are set on putting in a cat, go with a Magnaflow. The reason I didn't get a cat is because even though they make a cat which has 2.5" inlet and outlet, the center diameter of it is actually smaller than that, which defeats the purpose.

I've been using a Catco 2.5" High Flow from Summit for the last 6 or 7 months. I have that coupled on my L61 w/ a 22" resonator 2.5" piping, and a straight through muffler. I have yet to throw any codes at all. Car does smell like it runs a little richer though.
