I searched around and found one thread on the subject, but it was kinda vague so I figured I'd get more clarification on it.
To compensate for my headlight conversion I ended up haveing to tilt the radiator back and remove the AC grill in front of the radiator. AC has been drained and the HVAC unit has been completely removed from the car. my question is what else do I need to do to completely remove the AC? I know the condensor and all the piping needs to come out, but I read some conflicting statements about a different pulley/belt, and a few other things.
any help or info you can provide is much appreciated
the belt size is 345K5 i believe, but yes otherwise thats about it. the piping condensor and might as well take out the compressor also and then just run that shorter belt, thats what i did and mines a dayco belt to be exact about 15 ish dollars

Yep, just a smaller belt will do it.
excellent...thanks alot guys, very much appreciated!!
hate to bring this back, but another question. the part to the lower left of the engine where the ac belt is driven off of, does all that need to come out also? or do i just take the belt off and replace with the new shorter belt? and have that pulley unused?
thanks in advance
thats the a/c compressor, and yes it can be left in place and just use the shorter belt

awesome, thanks again man!!
All I did was take all the A/C stuff out and put a shorter belt on.

4 Cams...32 Valves...5 Liters...This Could Get Fun!
hate to bring this back from the dead, but im in the middle of this. just pulled out the ac compressor, now im trying to install the 345k5 belt, and i just cannot get it on. not even close. do you guys have an easy way of accomplishing this? i already scraped a few parts of the belt off, and getting frustrated. tried prying up the tensioner, and cant get it up enough.
is there a spot i should start/finish?
the belt seems really short!
I always put it on the crank...and have someone slide it on the alternator...pretty sure I used a 345K5 as well....you sure you're turning the right way on the tensioner?
maybe ill have to get an extra set of hands to help. as far as the tensioner, theres really only 1 way you can move it.
