Alright i have the 2200 motor and im getting ready to start my turbo build up. The first thing to do is going to be the cylinder head. Now im going to be port and polishing myself and i searched and read that you shouldnt remove the ridges on the exhaust side but i do not even see any ridges there. Also on the intake side when you port match you are going to take the shape out of the intake runner because the way it is shaped directs airflow around the valve guide boss. Now my question is this should i port match this or is this going to hurt the airflow? It seems like you could help the head by removing that ridge in the center of the intake runner that splits around the valve guide and create a v shape around the valve guide maybe an inch long tops. Has anyone tried this or is it going to hurt airflow im dumbfounded
personally i did my port and polish job myself with a die-grinder and i took it down a bit, the motor runs fine since i have done this it does have a lot of better airflow its cleaner and you can really tell that it breathes better. but as far as the ridge i took it out and it didnt bother the airflow to the valves. but its just all in the way you port it i guess.
