Somehow the down pipe slipped through the flange that holds it to the header. Has anyone else had this problem? I still have to take it off to inspect it, but i'm pretty sure that is probably just rusted, but that doesn't make sense because their is no reason it should have rusted already. Anybody have any thoughts on this?
I had the same problem, i guess you get what you pay for. I had to take it off several times and fix it. I found that if you take an adjustable wrench and bend the flange out it will work but it could happen again. when you no longer have a flex pipe the tourqe from the engine bends the flange. I installed mine on a race car and eventually welded it. I wouldnt recommend this for a street vehicle. It did make some good power but if i were you I would spend the money and buy a good one.
i had mine on for 2 years not 1 problem
and ive got alot of friends with them , and no one has every had any problems
only thing i can think of is maybe you got the wrong flange for the down pipe , or the flare wasnt made large enough
i used a 1/2 impact on mine and it never pulled through
I have motor mounts, and honestly, the flange is still bolted to the other flange on the manifold. 97trd, you might be right with the flare not being made large enough. I've never heard of this problem, so when it happened, i was like wtf. do you guys think i could get away with welding the downpipe to the flange, and then bolting it back up to the manifold. I don't see a problem with it.
Where did you put the springs for the bolt? Not inbetween the flanges I hope. Im not sure if theres enough movement of the motor for it to crack if it were welded since you have mounts, but maybe try to get another flange.
Well right now I don't have any type of flex pipe on the exhaust, so what i was thinking was weld the flange to the downpipe so it is now sealed, and then weld a piece of flex pipe between the downpipe and the rest of the exhuast.
Icemike, the springs are in the correct spot, so i know that isn't the issue. I'll see what I can find for a bit smaller flange.
you might be able to weld the flange to the down pipe
but you might have problems still , kinda hard to really say with out pics
but like i said in the pm , once you figure out whats exactly wrong , just let me know and ill help you out
