no and no. at least not that i know of
Chris Fontana was trying to get some intrest in making a flange for the eco like there is for the 2.4. but im not sure if that ever panned out

There was one person, I thought he was french or something who had success with it. He was also turboed and it looked really good.

I was going to try and design a flange but due to lack of eco parts to go by it is hard. To be honest there will likely not be any flange made unless there is prove results that benefit from the swap. If I had an eco I would try it out, but I have the crappy quad.

yeah, i remember seeing the pictures a long time ago before i decided to try it and now i cant find them. but i already have the manifold and i have a piece of phenolic to use for the adapter already, so i may go ahead and try it, but im going to do a little porting on the manifold itself to try and make the transition from 2.3 to eco as smooth as possible to the head. im going to try and start tonight, ill post pics if i get anything done.

yeah, its kind of rough right now, i havent finished polishing yet. and yeah, id be happy if it was running, right now it just sits waiting to be unleashed onto some unsuspecting civics and tegs in my club.

WOW...i didnt think the 2 heads had port spacing that close, hell theyre almost identical except for the shape. ill have to look into doin this myself, seems like a better, and cheaper intake than the saab. but a question, i dont know much about the 2.3/2.4...exactly which engine is this off of, and what cars is it found in?

it is off of a 2.3 out of a grand am. i am going to use the stock eco throttle body because the two mount holes actually line up with the manifold.

looks like only 2 of the flange bolt holes match up...are you gonna weld the Eco flange to the manifold, or are you gonna add some metal to the 2.3 manifold?

i am making an adapter flange out of phenolic. the aluminum flange was just to get size and shape. level zero motorsports carries them. you can get them with or without oring cutouts.

Not 2 familar with the ecotec engine even though my cousins friend has an alero with one, but is the intake manifold plastic like the quad 4? If not just just cut off the flange from your manifold and weld it on to the 2.3 manifold. But if not then I quess you would need that adapter flange.

GMR has got nothing on this

yes the stock manifold is plastic. i would just port match it but i dont like the position of the tb.

The plastic does not hold in the heat like the metal ones. there is no real proof that the 2.
3 manifold is better.

Looking good, I may buy one of these flanges to try and make something work. How many bolts are going to be holding on the manifold, were you able to utilize all of them? I have little experience with the ecos, I need to get something to go by.

the four upper bolts will bolt the adapter to the manifold and the two lower will go through the manifold through the adapter and straight to the head, and the two outer and three upper on the adapter will bolt to the head

ok, i don't mean to thread jack but i didn't think there was a point in starting a new thread. which flows more, the HO or the RKSport 4-2-1?

Re: 2.3 manifold

this is for the intake mnai not exhaust

Re: 2.3 manifold

meh, doesn't matter, it's still a 2.3 manifold. fits the title so it really shouldn't matter. pluse, it's a simple question for anyone that knows. cuz if the rksport flows more then i'm gonna cut the flange off a HO and weld it to an rksport and put it on my 086 head swap job

not if the Ho exhaust manifold is cast iron your not, cause you cant weld cast iron to steel, and the RK header is steel. however, for the purpose of answering the question...hell yes the RK flows better, if OEM exhaust manifolds were worth a damn they wouldnt need to make headers.

Re: 2.3 manifold

of course the rk, its a header. headers are made to flow more air. the ports are better, and the runners are straighter and smoother than cast iron manifolds.

Completely steering off topic is one of my greatest JBO pet peeves...however, I feel it necessary to comment:

You are comparing a header designed for increased exhaust velocity on a head with smaller ports, valves and low lift cams to the 90-92 cast iron exhaust manifold which was engineered with a 7200 RPM redline in mind...and you are going to sit there and tell everyone that "because it is a header it must flow better than any stock manifold." That is complete ignorance bro. If you have ever looked at the HO exhaust manifold, it is quite massive and resembles a "shorty" 4-1 header.
