My friends cat back off his 99 cav will not fit on my sunfire at all. All of the cat backs on ebay and some websites sya they will fir on any sunfire or cav 95-02. anyone know what cat back will fit on my 97 2.2 se sunfire.
What company made the cat-back?
If your friend has a 2.4, and you're trying to use it on a 2.2 then of course it's not going to work since the pipe path is different.

no his cavwas a 2.2 se and my sunfire is a 2.2 also. JDM made the catback. and doesnt fit at all. the pipe goes right through theaxle.
Missing a bend maybe? Would lowering springs, or coilovers cause that? ..I wouldn't think so.
Perhaps the people selling them on eBay got a hold of a bunch of factory seconds on the cheap, and now they're passing them off to un-suspecting J owners everywhere?

the 95-98 2.2 has a different length cat back compared to the rest of the J's
all 99-05 use the same length , and the 95-98 2.4 uses the same length catback , only the mid hanger is in different spots
the difference in length is from where the system bolts up behind the cat and makes the bend at the gas tank , 1 is longer(99-05) the other is shorter(95-98)
so basically your outta luck and cant use his catback , unless you modify it
