hey did any body put a ecotech in a cav ?i have a 99 z24 and want to switch it whats the best motor to swith to and is it a big job?
thanks
Yeah GM did
GMR has got nothing on this
your asking if a Chevy 2.2 ECOTEC motor came in any CHEVY CAVALIERS?????
no but i hear they came in 3L V6 mustang......
Your 2.4L engine is the best engine for your 99 cavalier. To much of a hassle to switch over to an Eco for that year and you wouldn't be getting much in gains.
did he really just ask that????
That's too bad for the 2.4 guys.
I wonder if they came in sunfires too?

lol
Wow. No he didnt ask that. Why's everyone so quick to flame on this forum? Look man i have a 99z24 5speed. Im doing the ecotec swap also. Its alot of work. But it is well worth it. If you have the knowledge and time to put in the wrench time that is. But, theres two ways to do it, you can cut and splice all the ecotec stuff into your existing harness which is alot of research and wiring( not adviced for you unless your experienced with wiring and sensors) or you can do what everyone else has done and buy a donor car (03+ cav/sunfire) and swap over the entire interior harness and the engine bay harness(thats every wire and sensor in the car) onto your car(99 cav.). I hear its about a weeks worth of work. Gm changed over the entire wiring system in 00 so that makes it this difficult. Or you can do like i did and sell your car and but a 00+ and the swap on that is almost plug and play. If your still interested or have questions let me know.
And whover said it 's not worth it has no idea what there talking about. The ecotec engine has been proven to run high 11's on boost with the FACTORY internals....our ld9's will have trouble with that built.
Ohh yeah and its spelled Ecotec
thanks man, what a bunch of fagots on here.
the 2.4 is blown so i did find a ecotec that only has 25,000 k on it thats why i asked, this engine is alot sweeter that the 2.2 and the 2.4 . when you say the interior harness is it just the fuse box harness or are we talking everything?
well first off saying what a bunch of fagots probably ain't gonna get you much more help....second i say its definatly worth putting en ecotec in. 2.4's go ka-boom lol my swap was simple...went to the bank...asked for money...got it... put my car on a flat deck trailer and gave it to double z...drive it when it was done.

pretty simple

every wire has to be changed, the tranny mounts have to be changed, depending on what time of year your car was built the fuel system needs to be changed..
Personally - I wouldn't ever swap out a good LD9 for a 2.2 Ecotec. To much waste of time and money - unless you know how to DIY. For the amount of money & time you would spend on doing a LD9 to Eco swap, you could build up the LD9, to be a very good performance motor (likely around 200whp).
If you want really an Ecotec so badly. The best & easiest bet is to trade the 99 Z24 in on a 03-05 Cavy or Sunfire.

SEARCH! Eco swap has been done, quite a few times. Almost every question has been answered about it. You don't want to get flamed, search before you post.
