i now its kinda late to ask this but seeing as i have already bagyuth the piping for it lol does dual intake give more HP than just a single one? i just want to know i havent installed it yet but was just wondering. also do those tubes you can get that fit on to the ends of cone filters do anything more HP wise? like if i were to extend it down to my bumper's grill.

like a pipe coming from the TB out and then a y pipe splitting it to were one ppe goes to the fender and the other goes to the bumpber. thats how i have mine set up anyway i dont hae it all peiced together yet tho

Uhh...no. Just stick to either a CAI or WAI and leave it at that...don't try to reinvent the wheel.

its to late for that lol already baught it but i dont mind its gotta increase HP by at least 1 lol but im trying to squeeze outas much power as i can from my OHV
Re: Dual intake

i doubt it would give more power. the t/b only allows so much air into the engine. do u really think another filter will let it take in more? it wont.

well say intake one isnt getting full airflow only about 50 percent and intake 2 doesnt get full intake either so each of them work together to get more air. im not expecting anything above 1hp but im boosting my car next week so im hoping this dual intake will work better than a single one once i get that because im not geting an intercooler right away

You DO understand that a turbo setup requires a completely new intake setup, and that the intake has next to nothing to do with an intercooler, right?

OIC it cools down the Air charge right? well still wouldnt dual intake help somehow. i mean even if its just for looks lol i want my 100 dollars to not have gone to waste in any department looks or power

If you really want to push it:
Dual intakes would allow less restriction to incoming air, which would result in less vacuum before the compressor, and therefore the turbo would make more boost (and more power) while operating at the same pressure ratio (and therefore nearly the same efficiency). However, this is so small that the added weight would most likely negate any gains lol.

But that doesn't matter, because as I said, you can't use that intake with a turbo setup anyway.

lol damn well i already freakin baught it which sucks but live and learn i saw a website which i cant remember what its called but it had all these cars with them on it and they wre getting gians from it but as long as it doesnt take away power im fine then it will just be for looks but if it takes away power than off to a ricer i go to tell them its like having a turbo lol and sell it for about 70 bucks

I never saw a dual intake on our motors. Got a pic? I'm curious, lol

air flow is like electricity, it alwys takes the route with the least resistance so if you've got 2 intakes, like said before it might be pulling 80% from one and 20% from the other either way its getting all it needs and what it really depends on is how much how much air your TB allows, this set up just sounds silly, and if you are going to boost AGAIN like said before its goign to require a completly different set up then you've already put in so in the long run you're wasting money out the ass...... so if i were you i'd go CAI with a bigger TB

sorry for the punctuation........ beers=horrible english.

i have the cold air intake but i baught a y pipe and a new filter and some extensions and coupler today to do the dual intake thing thinking i would get at least 2hp but now everyone is saying i wont. and if i dont see any increase i will just hook up the filter to my bros honda and make it into a short ram so no loss in money damn i feel like such a fricken noob right now.

not to sound like an a$$hole but, your going to try to turbo a car and don't know what an intercooler does?

your not being an @!#$.

Don't boost your car half assed. Do it right the first time. or i guarantee you will screw everything up.

Half to two-thirds the way down the page I have pics of my wife's old Daytona ES with a dual intake I made for it.

Did it work better than just the single ram air?

Yes, but on a motor with no intake sensor.

I tried it a few times and noticed a difference.

The Daytona ES stock non-turbo 2.5 is only 100hp and 135lbs torque.
It is easier to tell a few hp difference on a low output motor.

In other words, on a Ecotec 2.2 it may not be noticeable and possibly do absolutely nothing at all.

The reason being, it is a different motor and set-up.
There is no intake sensor on the Daytona ES 2.5 non-turbo.

If you do a dual intake on a modern car, it will probably pop a code and do nothing power wise.

yeah for one i couldnt get it to fit without buying more tubing so i deicided to crap that idea and use the other half of the intake tubing on my bros honda giving him a free upgrade lol yeah i got the cool air intake on mine and im satisfied with the results plus i got a filter and couplings to match my engine its nice and shiny to. so with that i noticed a power increase and kinda glad i didnt do the dual intake.
