ok, well i saw a new add here on JBO up top ^ today for the wwwsportcompactonly.com website, so i shoot over there and check out performance and such, when i came across cams for ours cars...
theres quite a few for the 2.2's, but then i saw a listing for 95 2.3 LUNATI cams, well it says 'cam' so idk whats going on, maybe its a typo? but i had no idea lunati made cams for that engine, if they work in that one, they will work in a 2.4 all the same.

I don't know how much I'd trust that. After all, they've got Ecotec camshafts listed, then it'll say they fit 1995-2005 cars. We all know the Ecotec wasn't in anything that early. Plus, why in the world did your search for Cavalier parts turn up all kinds of parts for Hondas and such? Looks like that site's search is fubar.
Lunati has been around for a while from my understanding. 4400-7800 RPM powerband, that is high.
FU Tuning
Roller?
.650" lift?
sound unlikely.

look at the YEARS it "fits"
LD2\LG0\LD9 cams from 88-99 will not work like that, not like this company says that will,
But LN2 cams will.

Not quite.
Also, that much lift would be rediculous on an LN2, that's big-block territory.

tell that to GM Master Catalog. GM says it will.

88-93= flat tappet
94+ = hydraulic roller
98+ = new cam sensor trigger location
I don't see 88-99 working too well...

wait, what's this whole thing with lifters? I thought that DOHC engines don't have lifters- the cams just hit the tappets, which sit directly on top of the valves.
I've heard of this "cam" too. I went to o'reillys and one of the guys pulled it up from arrowspeed for the LD9. he told me it was for one camshaft, so I'm not sure what's up with that...
and yeah, that's rediculously huge lift. almost double stock for those engines (almost, and I know that the lift is different between those engines.)
LD9 F23 FTW!!
tell GM that then, i just work for them, its what thay say.

the quad's do have lifters, but insted of pushing the pushrod up to the rocker arm and then having it push the valve spring down and open the valve, our lifters are sqeezed between the cam lobes and the valve springs. its a much more efficient method.

that's what I said- I just thought that those were called tappets, not lifters (IDK where I heard that.) anyway...
DOES ANYONE KNOW ABOUT THIS CAM? is there really a cam (it'd have to be a camshaft set) that gives a quad over .600" lift? obviously, you would at least need much stiffer valve springs... for starters.
LD9 F23 FTW!!
For starter, it WON'T WORK even if it would be a Quad cam. The max lift available is around .480" and that is for the racing only cam with power around 9k.
Stop dreaming and come back to reality. You are just beating a dead horse.
Does somebody here still know something about our engine? geez.

No. The number of people that actually know something about this engine gets lower everyday. I am guessing around 10 people ( I maybe over on that, LOL!! )

dear god. sorry for wondering. i wasnt around for the 'good ol days' of past quads so give me a break, i dont know every single minascule(sp?) detail for cams.
The giveaway should be this line in the description:
"4/7 Swap Camshaft"
With only 4 cylinders to play with, I'm a little lost how they could be swapping cyls 4 and 7. But we can still get a definite answer.
Bottom of the page has the cam part no., 50140SBALUN. Most resellers use the manufacturer's part no and add a few numbers or letters to identify the vendor and maybe a little more information, so we can take a quick visit to the Lunati page and look for part no 50140.
1) No cams are listed for LN2, LD9, or any other 4 cyl available in a J car, and
2) No solid roller lifters are listed for the LN2, and
3) Part no 50140 is only listed under the smallblock Chevy cams with .645" lift and 308 / 316 deg duration.
Sorry, but this is not a 4 cyl cam.
Class dismissed.
