Is there a heat reducing gasket out for the SAAB intake?
Also would the HO ECO manifold work better for boost than the stocker or will it pop as well?

the h.o. mani is from a 2.4 eco yes, but it comes with adapter plates to put it on the good ole' 2.2

never heard of an intake manifold 'popping' from boost. maybe one freak accident but doesn't really strike me as a gremlin.

but in all honesty for a turbocharged car, a surgetank-style intake mani (like hahn racecraft) would probably be the best.

for n/a however, the H.O. mani seems to be the best bet

I'll be testing it very soon...

I don't recall having heard of anyone popping an intake manifold from boost... Now I've seen a few Evo's do it to aluminum manis running 45-50 psi of boost, but considering few here run more than 20 psi, if even that much, I don't see it even potentially being a problem for most people. As for whats "better" for boost or N/A, well, it depends on where you want your power, what cams you're running, how much boost you're pushing from what sized turbo etc... A Hahn manifold or similar surgetank style would be good for someone running high boost with a lot of power in the top end, but probably not so good for the person looking for a more mild, torquey, street-oriented ride. IMO a scroll style intake manifold is best for boost because it has a 2 plenums to distribute air as evenly as possible between cylinders, but I've yet to see anyone make one for an eco and those made for other cars carry pricetags that I doubt even the more well-off J-owners would touch.

Something like this (dahlback is iffy but its was the easiest picture to find):

If you want off the shelf, than you want either the stock mani or the Hahn if you want to go for high boost. Having looked at the Saab manifold, while it may be used on a factory-boosted car, it does not look to have the properties you'd want for the amount of boost that would necessitate an aluminum mani. Hahn's not perfect either, as if it were going on my car, i'd want something with internal velocity stacks, which Hahn's mani doesn't have. You always have the option of getting a custom one made also, and I believe it was Suncavi who found that the Mitsu 4G63 intake port spacing is identical to the eco, so you could use an aftermarket mitsu mani and just have it modified to work. For the amount of money though, if you're not going to be shooting for well over 300 whp, I wouldn't even bother.

Hey skwirl, that iss an awesome all motor eco!! I want to see you get into the 12's, when you do let me know, i want to see the look on my friends face when you blow his honda way!!! Anyways besides that point, how much power would you estimate the 2.4 intake manifold would give to a 2.2 eco? I know 200 dollars is worth gaining a few extra ponies!!

if you want more high end power from your stock intake manifold port it to match.

does anyone know if the 2.4 mani with the adapter plate and everythign all bolted up installed with TB and everthing, if the overall demensions are the same? will the TB sit in the exact same place as stock or will it move it out towards the radiator? or higher up closer to the hood?

Are both Throttlebody's the same for the 2.4 and the 2.2 or would i have to chane the TB over too?

I dont mean to post again, but if you bought just the HO intake manifold would it come with all that? or would you have to order that kit.

as far as i knwo about the 2.4 mani its pretty much the same and the 2.2 tb will fit and will not move any where mounts just the same and uses all the same plugs..but as long as the tb is not a auto one like the cobalts...which im thinking it isnt....ill get some info on that tomm...

So if i bought just the 2.4 HO Intake manifold from a GM store (i work at one, and our cost on it is $196 then the gaskets are cheap) would that come with everything i need? in the link skwirl posted up it says it comes with an adapter plate and adapter plate gasket.Thats the only thing that kinda threw me off...

IF YOUR GONNA "TRY" IT WHY SPEND THE MONEY TO POWDER COAT IT FIRST? AND THERES NO REASON TO TYPE IN ALL CAPS

It will sit a little closer to the radiator but nothing big, half an inch or so.

I got the intake from GM also and the new gaskets. You'll have to lenghtened you brake booster hose about 10 inches and have it clip on the new intake. I got the adaptor plate and bolt and gasket from (crate engine depot) and It doesn't seem to work properly (so far), I have a 2003 eco 2.2 cavalier and I'm experiencing problems with clearance and sensor reading on the throttle body. I PM Flying Skwirrel on these issues and we will try to figure a way to overcome theses little problems. For now I had to take it off and reinstall the OEm 2.2 intake
