It depends on if your just looking for sound, or performance. As far a sound goes, I couldn't help. Performance wise, it all depends on what you are planning on doing to your car.

With minimal mods, I'de say a 4-1 header, high flow cat, a decent resonator, and a somewhat chambered muffler would work well enough.

I would not recomment a chambered muffler (like flowmaster) if you're into performance gains. Best would be a straight-through muffler, if it's to loud get a turbo-style. I like the sound of the Dynomax UltraFlo (straight-through) and other JBO-members like the Dynomax SuperTurbos (turbo-style). For N/A get a 2.25 inch piping. Don't forget the resonator (best would be a Thrush Magnum glasspack, because these are not louvered like many other glasspacks).

If I was you id either go with the magnaflow exhaust from rk sport sounds great and it will help with hp gains you can also go with the megan racing exhaust an it also sounds great an will also help with hp gains as well.

Cat backs arn't a bad start, thier ususally not too loud and free up the exaust a bit. If you know for sure your going to put a header on the car, it's usually easier to do it all at once.

You could just do what I did....bolt on a 4-1 header, high flow cat, and a streight through muffler without a resonator, and wake up your neighbors anytime you give it more than 1/4 throttle

Seriousley though, anything without a resonator tends to get loud, having one is usually the defining line between loud and too loud for most people. There's usually video clips of people's exaust that you can find through this site wich can give you a good idea what your car will sound like with different choices. I havent made one yet, because I need at least a regular cam-corder or my exaust is soo loud the microphone can't proccess the sound correctly.

As far as performance goes, especially if you're planning on doing a little work to the engine in the future, start from the header and use 2.5" piping all the way back, with a high flow cat, the longest straight through resonator you can fit, and a straight through muffler like Magnaflow or Vibrant.
