This might be a stupid question, but what can I/should I look for next for performance increase? I'm looking for something relatively cheap, and by that I just mean a three thousand dollar supercharger/turbo isn't in the cards right now. I'd like it to be no more than maybe five hundred, although the cheaper the better obviously, althought I realize 100% power/=cheap. This is for an Ecotec.
So far I've got header back exhaust, intake, TTR Upper engine mount and short shifter.
Eventually I want to do either supercharger or turbo, though right now I'm leaning towards turbo. But that won't be for a while unfortunately.
Any serious suggestions would be appreciated.
Lower motor mount and trans mounts.
Larger throttle body.
Nitrous.
throttle body and lower mount would be my suggestion, unless your wanting to go nos for the time being
I'd rather not do nitrous, however, I was interested in TTR's lower motor mount, and I was thinking about the bigger throttle body. What's the best way to do the TB? Get one off a junked car and have it bored, or find a company selling them already done? Also, what benefit do the trans mounts have? Heard a lot about them, but never really anything specific.
Thank you, I'll definitely keep the throttle body in mind.
I thought it was quite amusing that you both posted the same thing at the same time, guess it's pretty solid information!
Saab intake manifold and also a larger throttle body perhaps?
light weight flywheel and stage 1 clutch

header if you dont have one and dont plan on turbo'ing, or start on your turbo build and get a turbo or components.
flywheel, clutch would equal around 500, nitrous is around 500, higher compression forged pistons is around 500, lightweight crank pully is 100-200.

Def. do the tb.. it was a great up grade on my car.. i got mine over ebay. payed more than it probly costed to take it to a shop. but other than that you could tune it? and i hear motor mounts do a world of wonder to!
i suppose HP tuners would be a good investment as well

Where would one find the intake manifold and does that just open things up as well, for increased airflow?

What exactly does the lightened flywheel do? And I'd been thinking about a clutch, but I was going to wait until mine wasn't good enough.

I've got Pacesetter ceramic coated header on already, which I guess is more of a reason to eventually go with the supercharger so I can keep it. I'd rather not do nitrous though. The pistons would definitely help for down the line when I do eventually get boosted wouldn't they? I'd like to get HP tuners but from what I've saw that would be way over my head.
Thanks a lot for all the ideas, I really do appreciate it. I'm proud of my car as it is, but I'd like to constantly improve it over time.
Also, I've read the stickies, but without knowing what will be most beneficial at any given time it's not really the best way of learning for me.
litghened flywheel does the samething as a lighter crank pulley.

lightweight crank pully does not do the same thing as a lightweight flywheel, since they are not the same. they have the same effect, taking weight off of the crank.
if you take more weight off the crank, your engine will be able to rev up faster.

I've actually heard of people losing times in the 1/4 based solely on the addition of a lightweight flywheel. The technical terms elude me right now thanks to whiskey but I'm not making it up.
my 1/4 times are lower since i put in my lightweight flywheel, best time lowered by .1 and consistency lowered by .2

the people who get worse times in the 1/4 with a L/W flywheel just cant shift fast enough. an 8lb L/W vs a 23+ lb stocker will make a big difference....

Outdated sig pic FTW!
Ive got a core eco tb if you needed it to get it bored..phil
That'd be cool, how much would you want for it?
