I picked up a temp guage for my Cavy. Nothing special, just the basic, entry level Sunpro guage. Its for my '87, which does not have any guages except speedo and gas! Now I know there is a temp sensor in the thermostat housing, but if the car is overheating I will never know until the light goes (and at that point, the car would probably be cooked).
So I was wondering if anyone knows how I can install the temp probe for the temp guage? I"m working with the 2.0L motor. It has two sensors in the termostat housing, one is the coolant temp switch, and the other is the temperture switch. (Not sure what the difference is, just found it through part numbers on replacement part sites).
I'm not sure if one of these was orignally used for a temp gauge (had the car been equiped) and one is used for the ECU (kinda like a block temp sensor). If I can remove either sensor I can easily install the guage! If not I'll find a large brass tee fitting and install the probe on an exiting radiator house (in the same location).
Any info to shine some light on this situation would be appreciated!
