First I have no idea if this should have obviously been in the tuning forum or not, but since it mentions "of an advanced nature" I figured probably not.
All I want to know is when should a person start thinking about getting some sort of tuning done? I assume just getting an intake and exhaust isn't going to make enough difference to warrant one. But what if you do your exhaust, intake, header and bored throttle body? Is it enough difference in air being moved around to have a tune make much of a difference?
You could take a stock car and get the air/fuel mixture, or the timing or spark tuned etc etc. So you could really get a car tuned at any stage. Most people wait until they get past the bolt-on mods though. If you have the money and want to extract every last drop of power out of it, and don't plan on adding more mods anytime soon, you could go get it tuned if you wanted. But in my opinion it would be kinda a waste of money.
Infantry!!!
radical changes in VE... such as when you change the cams, add forced induction/ nitrous, or port the head you should tune it.
Thank you both, that's about what I figured but thought I'd make sure.
