Well, i was just browsing the wonderful world of ebay, kind of interested in getting a header this spring and redoing exhaust in general.... anyway, I stumbled on a few of these on there, and was wondering what everyone thought of them......
ebay header #1
ebay header #2
The first one seems kind of ridiculous, and it doesn't look like it would even clear the alternator brace, and fits 95-02? Direct bolt on my @$$! Maybe if you were interested in fabricating the hell out of it to get the ports and bolt holes to line up and adjusted appropriate clearances.....
Second one seems legitimate, almost a ripoff of the obx and pacesetter headers.... theoretically they could work though. However, being cheap, they probably would rust/discolor/flaking of finish..... But, does anyone think they would function as well as the authentic counterpart, especially if one was considering a v6 swap in a year or two?
What do you guys think?

The first one looks like it's for an ecotec. At those prices I'd stay away...you get what you pay for.
yeah pretty much, the first said 2.2l ohv though, well it says 95-02 so assumedly....... but yeah thats what i thought. low price low quality. id be tempted to try the second though just for giggles, as long as they have a solid return policy for when it didn't fit.

I wouldn't buy anything with a 3-year "warrenty"
the first one is for an ecotec
the second one is for the OHV
don't waste your time with either.
I bought an ebay header for about 180 shipped.
Honestly, its a header, as long as you stay true stainless you dont need any special coatings or anything. Its just pipe and the majority of the people on here dont understand how the length of the primaries affect performance nor would they ever feel a differance if they were changed.
Mine even came with a bonus....a flange i did'nt have to warp!
But seriously, not that big of a deal.
Its just pipe people. For 99.9%of the people on here and the mods and plans for their car, it will be perfectly suitable.

bought that second one from ebay. felt the difference though i still need to replace my downpipe and high flow muffler. it easily bolted on aside from removing the alternator, and the bracket under the engine. need to weld to connect to the stock pipe.it's ok for the cheap price.I can say my engine can "breathe" easily now..

this is not the case at all. there is a big difference from an inferior piece of crap pile of pipe, and a header designed for your car. any pipe with the heat you are talking from the exhaust will end up with negative effects, thus the market for all of the heat coatings. its not all some big scam to get people to spend money. its called quality parts, fitment of the parts.
if you want to go the cheap route, and plan on replacing the header within a year or two, then thats fine. but dont send other people that dont know any better down the wrong path.
cheap knock off's made over seas with child labor , and made from low grade thin wall stainless

haha
yeah but yeah thats basically how i see it as well. for changing it out in a year or two, el cheapo would do, but if you are looking for good quality product you have to spend good quality money. its funny they provide "ceramic" coatings on them, probably just high temp paint that'll burn off anyway.
i'd still be tempted to try a stainless, maybe the finish will burn and look neat after a while

but nothing happens till i remedy my leaking coolant line - stupid -20* windchill
