First, i finally finished installing the manifold, and it was pretty easy. Just really really frustrating with the bracket and all, since no tutorials told me I had to have the 2.3L bracket to hold the throttle, or a heavily modified 2.4L one to work with the 2.3L throttle body. It wasn't anything i couldn't do, but it was something I should have known to prepare for.
But my questions are:
1. Does anyone else smell lots of gas inside their cabin now that the manifold is installed? and,
2. Does the whistle come with the territory of the manifold? becuase whenever i start revving it out, it sounds almost like a turbo whistle it's so loud.
3. Can i adjust the throttle cable from behind my gas pedel? becuase i think it is still a LITTLE loose, since i am over revving 1st gear now.
Thanks guys!

I also had the TB bracket problem
I do not smell gas in my car
I do not have a whistle
Never had to adjust my cable
I Help my buddy with this swap so i can help out a bit.
1. Never had the smell of gas inside the car after start up. May be unrelated to manifold swap.
2. No whistle on my buddies, it hisses alot, like the sound of rushing air...no whistle tho.
3. I have no idea, but why not bend down and check?
all of those symptoms sound like a vacuum leak. something is loose. take some carb cleaner and spray down the manifold and throttle area and see if the engine stumbles.
Hm, i shall def try that.
I also felt as if i skimped out on the RTV between the TB and the manifold. Maybe i should re-fasten it with more? becuase all the seals seem good.
I will DEF try the carburetor cleaner.
On the gasoline smell issue, I have no idea what it would be related to. Since i have never smelt it until i installed the manifold. I even checked all the injectors to see if maybe i had unseated one while fitting the manifold in, but nothing.
The fuel return line after the FPR in hooked back into the manifold, and that is tightly sealed as well.
Could it be the breather filter emitting fumes??
I shall bend down today to see if i can adjust it.
I know it's kinda loose since when i accelerate i press the pedal down and then it accelerates once i push it down to a certain degree. I am def over compensating, and it sounds like i don't know how to drive when i start. hahahaha.

Scott, The installation guide clearly states that i can use RTV.
And 99redz24, i read over that guide 5 million times, and i had it on my engine while i was installing it. Thanks though.

i used a Tb gasket to seal it up. worked fine

yup and i find that even funnier ..to seal a vacuum with rtv..lol..im willing to bet the RIGHT tb gasket is cheaper than the tube of rtv..i have like 5 of them here in my toolbox...i coulda stamped an envelope and sent you one for like 50c..
Yea spray carb cleaner all over to check for leaks. Im using a modifed 58mm 2.4 tb, but switching to a 2.3 soon so Ill be fitting a modifying the 2.3 tb to fit and maybe Ill do a little write up since the swap guide isnt too clear on that. And yes, I know the 2.3 tb is smaller than 58mm but theres more to it.
Ive done this swap a few times now lol. Once with a lo manifold and fontana spacer, then with a portmatched ho. Im actualy putting my ho back on tomorow cause I took it off to refinish it, and Ill be modding the 2.3 tb soon.

Why does it say on the tube that it can be used for head gaskets in turbo and supercharged applications? Becuase i used the RTV copper. I don't know if it makes much of a difference, it is rated to something like 750 degrees.
no big deal, ill just take off the TB and make a gasket with form-a-gasket. I guess i was just instructed wrong.

You can use rtv on tb's, Ive done it and had no problem. Im using a 2.3 gasket though cause their so cheap. On my 3400 grand am I used rtv cause my upper plenum was ported and I had a billet tb that was much larger than stock.
ya what is it like 9-12 dollars for the gasket set, comes with manifold-head gasket and manifold-tb gasket, i say just buy it, ive re-used mine many times, my manifold has been on both my cavs back and forth with the same gasket, and ive swapped around tb's a few times. id just get the felpro set and be good to go
yea..that was kinda my point..i didnt mean to make fun of anyone..but when a problem seems to be a vacuum problem..getting the proper gasket is what i personally would recommend

You can still send me the gasket if you would like to stamp it and i will cover postage

Does anyone have pictures of the two tubes that come out of the head?
The one that goes back into the cam case, and then the one that goes to the breather filter.
The first time i hooked it up i got oil spewing through the filter, i cleaned out the filter, and then i drove another 100 miles, and it is puking more oil. I also have a weird yellow goo that is mixed with the oil. Could it be a head gasket?
Im confused, any help would be much appreciated!

I had that problem to with the gas smell and i think it had something to do with the egr when i had a block off plate on it. But after a while i took the whole erg and use rtv on it and put it back over the spot where it belonged and it stoped smelling like gas. I never had the whisling sound though.
