has anyone done this? How bad ass would that be especially if your in the upper 260 HP mark.
I did search but the last thread was made like 3 years ago. I was looking for more current discussion
buy a WRX and be done with it

Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
well GM should of made that new turbo cobalt AWD WTF!
I was joking with my brother about mashing an EVO with a Cav "Cavalier Evolution" how badass
i think this topic is brought up about once a month and every single time it is deemed retarded.

87 Firebird
All stock...........lol.
ya it is stupid WAY too much bs involved.
Keep in mind if they made the turbo Cobalt AWD that it would increase the price by quite a bit having the extra materials and manufacturing and all into it. That extra price would likely mean less buyers.
GM did make an awd cobalt.... we just never hear about it... I know my dad designed the center differential.... be looking for an awd small car from gm in the next year or so
This months projects: Completion and Installation of Homemade Turbo System, Brakes, Fiberglass sparetire enlcosure and amp rack.
Oh come on... GM is gonna bother with the "twisted drivetrain" AWD idea? I've seen this talked about for years in concept form (The Corvette Indy, the CERV III), but I doubted the General would ever get serious about it. Especially in the layout that the Cobalt would need. This I've gotta see.
Go beyond the "bolt-on".
no its coming ...belive it or not.. thats all i can say
Really? Well then... I guess maybe there will be a transverse mid-engine AWD Corvette in the future (It's been talked since the early '70s... The mid-engine part at least. The AWD part came in '86). Hey, do you think it will come with 4-wheel steering ('86 Indy concept again!) or not?
Go beyond the "bolt-on".
wasnt there a AWD beretta concept car? I remember seeing it online i want to say 6-8 years ago.
ya, 3.1 turbo....
if only...............

We will see. Gm does a good job of teasing us with concept this and concept that, but they never produce it. I really would like to see GM produce a car comparable to the wrx sti and evo. Sadly I do not hold out hope it will ever happen.
They did a litle better with the cobalt SS/SC atleast performance wise but they failed on the body. It is alright subaru did the same thing with the sti and dodge failed as well with the srt-4 just not as bad IMO.

ya they did make one it was a 2.8 twin turbo. I used to have pics of the engine.
just run a U van AWD trans or Equinox 5spd auto trans they bolt up to the 2200 and the 60 & 90 degree V6s
ecos and quads to bad for u
JBO since July 30, 2001
I know of an ecotec trans that is AWD, and 6 speed

..but its not available here and everything else would be custom
This talk of AWD isn't much of a surprise to me, seeing how GM's talking of bringing the "lifestyle" trucks (Which are based upon car chassis design & components, and are FWD standard with optional AWD) here to America relatively soon. So keep your eyes open for them, since they might share parts with J-cars.
