I'd like to preface this post with saying beyond bolt ons, i'm very unaware of some of the serious inner workings/internals of my ecotec engine (or any engine for that matter). I hope some of you more experienced builders will assist me kindly...
Well sometime in the future i'm going to run the GM s/c for my 2.2 ecotec. I know it was made to run on all stock internals, however I drive my car fairly agressively (at times) and i plan on having it, for a long time. So i figured, it couldn't hurt to build up some of the internals, right?
So I was browsing TTR and was trying to find an economical way to start building them up. So I saw a few moderately priced items I might start with. I'd also like to mention i plan on doing none of this work myself, and only by a PROFESSIONAL.
I was looking at starting with:
-Cometic Mutli Layer Head Gasket
-Clevite Rod Bearing Set
-APR Head stud kit.
Would any of these things really strengthen up my engine, and while its not the reason i would do all this, would this add ANY performance/HP?
Any thoughts/fair opinions/help would be very appreciated
Big plans for the '04 Fire.
All I need are is Time (sigh...)Money(sigh...)Know-how (workin on it!)
from that list all i can see being reasonable is the clevite bearings. better bearings, no matter what the application, are ALWAYS a good idea. no hp gain anywhere, and the stock gasket and head bolts will hold till well beyond anything else would that you could produce with the stock s/c. usually, first thing i hear going on the eco is ringlands, whether it be from melting a plug, going to lean, or anything else, FIRST thing i would do would be a new set of weiscos.
