2.5 inch piping--Muffler shop or aftermarket brand?

Hey Guys,

I have a 2002 LS Sport Ecotec Cav with most bolt ons.... I really think I should have bought a 2.5 inch piping exhaust. My car really can pull but feel a bigger piping will let loose a few more ponies. I have a 2.25 inch right now. I had a friend with a 2001 civic Ex that had a muffler shop do his exhaust.. It worked ok, until he bought a greddy exhaust system (same size piping) and you could feel a difference! So, the question is, muffler shop do the piping or go with an aftermarket exhaust system? I plan to buy cams (triflows) soon so that's also why I would need a bigger exhaust as well.

Thanks

If you don't have a high RPM cam, and some P&P work, or you're not running a turbo, the extra quarter inch in pipe diameter won't make much of a difference. However, if you're talking about going from a crush bent exhaust from a shop to a mandrel bent system, you will notice some improvement.

just so long as you dont get crush bent pipe, and its stainless, pipe is pipe.
