My dad has a spare trunk muffler from flowmaster in the garage that is 3 inch in and out. My muffler is really bad and i need a new one and I'm wondering if I can just get a coupler to match my stock exhaust size (2 inch??? factory 03 base cavalier) to the 3 inch.what do you guys say? will it work. only thing is, I think the inlet is centered and it wont fit on my car.. Unless I can get a l bent coupler?

just went and looked at it again and it is a lot shorter than my stock one. and it has one 3" inlet and 2 3" outlet.. I would need to get either two tips or like a y or something.... and the car is off to one side and the truck muffler is centered. So I don't know.

well the muffler itself has 1 inlet.. and the otherside (said outlet) has 2 holes.. so isn't it 1 inlet and 2 outlets?

Are you sure that muffler came from a truck? If so, then it's a dual outlet job. If not, then it's a Camaro/Firebird muffler that's meant to be mounted sideways aft of the rear axle with one port acting as inlet and the lower ports (It's sideways & on it's side in the F-body) as outlets. Either way that muffler is way too big in inlet/outlet size for your (I can only assume) stock car. Goto Murray's and get yourself a 2" I/O Dynomax for about $50 and call it a day.

Truck flowmasters are 1 inlet on one side and 2 outlets on the other side thats how TRUCKS get cheap duals the muffler stays int eh STOCK position. just with 2 exhaust piped comming out. i can almost guarentee its NOT a F body muffler

if it was designed for a GM truck , and some ford , both used 2 inlets and 1 outlet

and yes it is possible to go from 2" to 3" with some work , or finding a adapter or a couple adapters

Same on the Double-Deuce 'dimes (LN2 powered S-10 pickups)!

If you're just looking to repair your exhaust, just go to Autozone or something and buy a cheap factory replacement or similar.
They should have a cheap muffler for around $20 with 1 7/8" offset inlet and single or dual outlets that will get the job done for you.
