Motor Mounts

I was looking at getting some RK Sport motor mounts and was wondering if the upper mount insert is needed or if the lower mount will be just fine alone

i drove my car with just the lower for a bit, loved it, then added the upper. (ordered both at the same time just too lazy to put the upper in) and loved it even more, made the engine much less sloppy.

yeah, your going to get increase vibration no matter what, so you might as well secure the engine as good as possible and put both in at the same time. Definatly a noticable difference when your driving it. It seems more "responsive"

The mounts the Aaron at Turbo Tech Racing makes are better. The control the torque motion as good or better, are much stronger and transfer less NVH. You have an LS, which means a 4 speed 4T40E, so he even has the mount for that. See his G.P. for special prices.

wondering if anyone knows how hard it is to install the rk sport lower mount...I know the upper mount insert isn't too bad to get at..

Get the TTR mount

Much better than the RK Sport inserts hands down

on the upper insert you are just basically taking out the stock insert and replacing it.

and just to clarify i have the RK Sport mounts... well lower and upper insert..

the TTR mount is easier to put in simply because you are just swapping the entire mount.

With the insert, you disassemble the metal frame pieces, soak the insert with soapy water or silicone spray and pound it into the stock mounts open areas, nothing is removed. The insert simply fills in the open areas around the rubber isolator. This method causes more vibrations to be transferred to the chassis, while regaining some of the lost torque. The TTR mount uses the Polyurethane bushing as the vibration absorber, but also limits the motion caused by the torque. The insert is a band aide, while the TTR mount is a solution. You get less torque rocking (loss) and better vibration absorption than the stock mount with the insert.
