True SOLID mount INTEREST
Saturday, May 31, 2008 7:20 AM
Well if no one wants to use my car for making new pieces on here I'll give it to someone who does LOL. I want solid mounts for my car when its racing again and found a company that is willing to make them if there is some interest. I can't give you a price at this point because I just started talking with them BUT is anyone else interested?

WARNING....THESE WILL RATTLE YOUR FILLINGS OUT!

I'm guessing he's talking about one with a bearing in it, not just a hunk of steel with a bolt.

I'm not sure how'd they'd do it yet. Z Yaaa is on the track of what I was gonna do until I found these guys.

They're gonna make me upper and lower motors and trans ones so my car will be mad stiff now. LOL.

We could make a solid lower and upper. But since we only deal in Stainless, and the required thickness for durability and strength they would be around $700 for a pair. Most cost involved in the upper mount. Not very feasible, which is why we've never pursued it.

We have completely solid ones on our RWD grand prix. We have also used in combination with stainless sleeves hardened nylon 4x4" squares we machined down to fit inside the 2" SS tube to make dog bones. Its a hell of a lot harder than polyurethane but not as hard as being completely steel to steel mounts. Possibly another alternative for you to maybe try?

I'm not quite sure if you know already or not but I know SMG makes a completely solid lower mount...

I just wanted to post a few pictures of these mounts. If there is enough interest and there are some of you that would be interested in one of these solid lower dog bone mounts please let us know... post what you think about this product in this thread!!! So everyone knows, this mount is no heavier than an RK lower mount. It is made from 6061-T651 Aluminum. Thanks!

If we get 10+ interested we can manufacture them.... They wont be $700 but we will use mild steel and powder coating....

I knew SMG made the lower but if I can get all 4 mounts made in a batch at a good price I might as well do that.

I've gotta have all 4 at once too or I'm not buying them. No point in having solid motor mounts and flexible trans mounts. They would just negate each other.

I realize you said this is for racing, but I still think there could be some bad affects from this. vibes soo bad you could end up with ghost knock which could cause tuning issues, or power issues.

I would agree, you would need a custom tune, to prevent false knock and such....

I dont think much, unless you are running 500+ HP... I run poly mounts on my Turbo Cav and have never considered 100% metal to metal solid, as I dont think the benifit is there myself....

Yeah, this particular thing would not be a big enough improvement AT ALL to outweigh all the headaches

Why don't you just run a top notch quality set of poly mounts, and if you really think you need the extra just run a torque strap on the engine?

that, and some "give" is helpful for getting out of the 60' fast.

you've been dragging your car everywhere for a year now too....

how many trans\diffs have you gone through Ben, of the F23 trans at that?

some give is OK.

X2, its better to have some than none unless you were running an engine plate, etc. As i said, if you really think you need that extra hold with poly's, do a torque strap on the engine that way you still have a little give in it.

straight cut gears? Been there done that, i can send you the CAD drawings and the CnC programming if you want. 8400rpm and 410whp on low boost they were fine at WOT with no-lift-shift.

And that everyone at the bash last year saw.....

What’s done to your "too much to list" motor?

I’m curious.
