aem has dyno results. max hp gain of 8.5 at 6k rpm. which is pretty good. found for 249on turbotech
but rksports is 199 and they dont have dyno tests.
which would you go with?
'05 sunfire. rksport intake, 2.25" custom dual catback, b&m short throw pacesetter header and high flow cat.
a dryer hose with a fast and the furious cone filter.

Riddle me this... riddle me that...
a tube is a tube for intake! just get tubing and a good filter
what year and motor do u have
kurtis hendrix wrote:a tube is a tube for intake! just get tubing and a good filter
good filter should be the biggest concern. Dyno doesnt matter for an intake....like he said tubing is tubing. but i personally think you pay for garaunteed fitment. something you wont get with an ebay special. as far as aem or rk sport, i would go with the cheaper one.
ebay CAI and then a good filter haha....i have a weapon R short ram and its not any different

soon to be supercharged, eibach sportlines, KYB AGX struts, 18" RTX poisons
they have tubing at auto parts stores and you can just make your own. thats how i did mine

make your own dont spend lost of money on name brand intakes. they are only worth 2-5 whp. dont get a short ram as it is worth negative 2-5 whp.
enough said...so how about they boston celtics?

Man youd think these questions would end with the intake thread!
Any intake will work and not giv you much diffrent of a power gain....ive always gone with aem but go with whatever you arent going to see any diffrence in power..
And last but not least for the love of god search about stuff beforfe asking...please!
because no one has made that intake tread a STICKY yet.

becasue people are to @!#$ stupid to search the most basic things... you can't help yourself I'm sure as hell not gonna help.
and you obviously have no idea what your talking about..... bad advise is worse then no advise, wise up or shut up
i find aem's "dynoed 8.5 hp increase" to be a bit over optimistic. i would call it 4-5 max on a good day and a 2.4/eco maybe.
go with something decently cheap. there's no reason to pay $250 for something that is mass produced at a total cost of about $5 to them.
dude i made my own for about 45 bucks works and sounds great, name brand doesnt mean anything unless it is something really serious like internals or forced induction.

a short ram gives a negative 2-5 hp?? wtf are you smoking?

Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!

A few of the guys I work with go to UTI for automotive training. During the "bolt ons" class they put a WAI on a ford mustang and
lost 6 WHP over stock. They never tested a CAI though, so I don't know the results. I am only going by what the 6 students in the class said, I haven't seen it first hand.

you do know, on back to back dyno runs, with something like a mustang you can see about a +/- 15 hp fluctuation? it takes time for the computer to notice such things have been put in place.

I'm well aware of that.
Its a 2 week or so class, the WAI was on the car for over a week and did several runs from what I was told. So it wasn't back to back runs with and without the intake. Even if it was a +/- 15hp, all the runs where always -5 or more it never had a + hp.
I'm not taking either side on this matter, I haven't seen any dyno tests myself to see. I would like to see some dyno proof though.
