This would kinda be perofrmance I guess. but here my question i have just swapped in a 3800 Series II SC i'm just waiting for my PCM to come back from James, i believe hes is setting it up to run the fan when the engines off for a couple minutes if its too hot.
now i have been lookin into the override and i wanna know which of these 2 methods of over ride is the best to use and if i have the switch OFF will the PCM still run my fan automaticly until i flip it to ON.
A) -

B) -
http://www.wildweasel.ca/HowTo/Auto/J-Body/FanSwitch.aspx
which method did you use A or B, the wiring isn't what i'm concerned about as i wired my engine its i want it to be AUTO unless i flip the switch telling it otherwise

Either will work, I have used the first one on many J's.

obviously both would work
the question i asked was
you have used A, which most people here would have used since some people don't know wild weasel
the other part of the question was
if i have the switch OFF will the PCM still run my fan automaticly until i flip it to ON.

People knopw who Wild weasel is, and yes the ECU will still control the fan

I used the second option. Haven't had a problem with it except it trips the check engine light when I turn it on with the car running. And yes your computer will still run your fan because you are just making a second switch, not completely eliminating the computer from controlling the fan.

I know the first option will not throw a code.

I'm not too worried about it because I already get a code from my blocked off EGR. I believe when I did it before the blocked EGR it would throw the code, but eventually turn itself off if I didn't use it for a while.
perfect i was thinking more the JBO library way since i already have all the stuff for it.

Soon, I will have a new product coming out soon and basically with my product you would just wire in a LED rocker switch and you will still have the ecu turning your fan on and off but like I said I will have my product out soon.

i hope it costs less than $10, because it should cost any one more than that to do it themselves...

Yeah someone already sells this. It is called parts store, switch and relay, and wire.

I think what might be a good idea here would be a switch to fully select if the fan turns-on (either manually or automatically by computer-control). In short, wiring a DPDT-switch in-line to the fan w/ a manual "ON" position terminal that's wired to the chassis ground, and the other to the computer-controlled grounding circuit for the fan, with the center terminal running to the fan relay. Just a thought.
Go beyond the "bolt-on".
If you're going to try and sell something so simple put atleast a feature or two into it. how about using a 555 timer (in one-shot mode where the car turning off acts as the trigger) and a relay so that the fan will only run for 20 mins with the car off. then it can still cool at the track but if you ever use it on the street you won't end up with a dead battery if you forget to turn it off. also it should definatley control whether it is computer or manually controlled.

Okay, That's a good expansion on it. And correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there a switched ground circuit on the ignition switch cluster? If so, that could be used as an "automatic" override by being the drawn-from source on the manual-on circuit.
Go beyond the "bolt-on".
the entire steering column is grounded, any where on there is fine for the ground. thats where mine is.
