I have a 99 Z24 and recently my gas gauge has started going all wonky. When ever I drive the the gauge flops all over the place. Do anyone have any suggestions as to what might be happening.
sounds like the sending unit in the tank is going...
I had to replace one on my girl friends 03 fire...

IIRC, there's supposed to be a "slosh-dampener" installed on the level-assembly that prevents the needle from dancing excessively when the fuel starts sloshing-around as the vehicle accelerates, brakes & turns. It might be bad, and that means replacing the entire level assembly (But not the pump!) to fix it. Which means dropping the tank, and at a shop that can get expensive. But, if you can DIY the most it'll cost you is the part & some "Down-time". (Heh, heh, heh.)
Go beyond the "bolt-on".
Yea its not from the gas moving around the tank... It only started a few days ago and I never had a problem before.. I will try changing the level unit.. thanks for all the help

Isn't the anti-slosh board on the back of the gauge panel? I might very well be thinking of the wrong vehicle but I could have sworn it was there? A lot of times a simple re-sodder is all that's needed(typically the problem is a loose wire).
