What performance mods can be done to a 1992 2.2 OHV. And what else would have to be done to make it run correctly. Can this engine be tuned or is it too old to be able to do any good mods. (IE head port and polished with roller rockers.)
you can do it, the only thing is you would need to chip it. HPtuners is 96 and later i believe. If you do a search for "OHV", "LN2", or "2200" and remove the replies then you will see alot of mods. I would say that if you have the head off already you might as well do a full build on it if its possible. I would do valves, springs, lifters, pushrods, port and polish, roller rockers, and some titatim retainers and locks. The info is out there you just gotta do a little research.
The chip will be the hardest part of it, as very few companies or people deal with them anymore (Re: Hot-rodding afteramaket only makes and/or supplies for waht is currently most popular!). But, if you look-around, you will find somebody that's able to do it.
And FTR: The LN2, like any engine that ever was produced, isn't too-old of design to mod... It's just too-old of a design for it to be popular with bolt-on-happy young "tuner"-snots that fear really dwelving-into an engine to make more power from it.
Go beyond the "bolt-on".
