Performance Mods on a 2.2 3 speed auto.

I got a bud who has a 98 Pontiac Sunfire 5 speed. He's done intake, msd ignition, catback, pacesetter header. I have a 99 2.2 liter 3 speed Automatic Cavalier with intake and catback setup. He told me i should consider installing a B&M shift kit on the trans and some motor mounts before i look at putting in a pacesetter header. Just want some input performance wise and cost wise. I'm just trying to save some money and not put unnecessary stuff in if i don't have to. Your thoughts. GO GO!

b&m shift kit, the transinterceptor, and other electronic ordeals work with ELECTRONICALLY shifting transmissions.

the 3t40 transmission (aka the 3 speed trans) is a mechanically shifting transmission. if you want a shift kit, for this you pretty much have to do modding to the valve body, which is internal.

You can search for his^^^ post in the tranny forum about building the 3-speed, although I think the pics may be dead now.
