So latly my car has been idleing weird. If im moving at speeds 40mph and up and I put it in nurtal and will rev between 850 and 1000rpm on its own. also some times it will rev up to 1500 or to 2000 rpm and just stay their. At one point the car went up to 5000 rpm and I had to pull over and let the car sit for a min. now i have put a new t.b on and i replaced my gasket. I thought may be it didnt set right so i took it back off, cleaned and put it back on but nothings changed. Now im leaning twards my tps. Wanted to see what you guys thought though. Is their a way to the the tps? Or might I be over looking some thing?

O, also when at a stand still it sits at 1000 rpm. Is that normal for a 5-speed? My friends auto sits at like 800 at stand stll but hers is an auto and ohv. so that might be why.

i thought i've heard this before.. but the auto cavlier eco should be at 600 idle.. and the manual should be even lower than that at idle.. so the 5 speed should definitely be lower than the auto would be. ohv or not lol.

The ecotec with a manual should idle around 900rpm and the auto should be around 600rpm to 700rpm. And a manual car usually always idles higher than an automatic.

Yup my 5spd idles between 700-900 it drops a bit if it sits thats with the eco/getrag
