So now what ???

I put the header on and there is no raspyness... that's a good thing, but should I still add a resonator ?

if your happy with the sound and its not too loud there is no need for one

nope, not unless you really want to. A resonator isnt really necessary it is just used to get a certain sound that you are looking for. Did you just put the header on and keep the factory exhaust or did you redo the whole thing? If you kept the facotry exhaust then your resonator would still be on there, also the sound depends alot on the quality of the muffler you pick up!

I have only thrown the header on so far... I'm taking it to the shop tomorrow to go 2.25 cat back, but I wanna know before I waste too much money and then end up adding the resonator any way.

What will it sound like if I just add the resonator with out "needing it" will it just be quietier ?

should I go 2.5 or just 2.25 ?

it will quiet it down a lil bit..but it just takes out the raspiness...when you get those bigger pipes/different muffler on..it will be a lot louder and more raspy depending on which muffler you go with.

As far as 2.25 or 2.5...if you don't plan on any boost stay 2.25..

That is kinda what I was thinking... I'm going with the SS series from Magnaflow for the muffler so it should be really nice sounding..

magnaflow mufflers are the best sounding on our cars IMO. what motor and header do you have?

Magnaflows are raspy IMO unless you go with a resonator. Had the duel setup on my ld9 and it was raspy as hell at WOT, but sounded good just cruisin. Although, i didnt have a resonator.

What about a flowmaster muffler. I've seen some good results on that from a 4 cylinder car. Sounds pretty good too. no raspyness.

Thought about the flowmaster but the magnaflow was given to me for free, new in the box, so I figured what the hell and ran with it... Plus I have Magnaflows on my trucks and love em. I just threw a Flowmaster "shorty" (one that someone cut down to about 6" long) on my 04 Silverado and love the way it sounds.. so I will consider it, but the magnaflow looks good under there.

is it a straight thru design? I have one of those on mine, and I wish i had gone with the flow masters, kinda. I have a resonator on it, but that is also straight-thru. I am planning on going turbo, thats why i kept the straight thru design. It's on the loud side for my liking now, but i'll wait till i get the turbo on, then decide if I need to change it or not. My buddy with his N/A 2.2L motor loves the flowmaster, and it sounds great. basically quiet unless you're full throttle.

Yeah, I'm adding the resonator sor a little less sound, It sounds great but if it's quiet you get less of the "pop the hood" type stuff happening... ( and yes, it is a straight through muffler, 2.25 in dual 2.25 out )
