2.3L HO Rebuild
Wednesday, September 10, 2008 8:35 AM
Ok i am very new to rebuilding and modding engines.

So this is my plans...
I have a 2.3L LO on my 95 Z24.

In the works at the moment to get a 2.3L HO and swap it into my cavalier. I plan to rebuild the whole thing all winter and possibly turbo it later on. So my question is when rebuild how should i build it up to be ready for a custom turbo set up?

I know i should be looking into pistons, lower compression, port n polishing, cams, rods, etc etc...
But a complete list of what i should do and what i should buy would make my day?

just been tough to find these answers for the 2.3L and if you have any turbo suggestions please feel free

Thanks
Zack

become a member over at www.quad4forums.com they are all over them HO's lol. They will be able to be a little more detailed about parts, and where to buy them. good luck.

x2 on the quad4forums
as far as pistons , compression is going to depend on your target psi with boost
you can get eagle rods fairly cheap
w41 cams are still available, and HG2 cams IF you wanna pay for them
heads are fairly common and easy to PnP
the KICKER here though is tuning..so if your going HO and converting to manual ( like i think i heard you say)
your going to want to use the pcm from a 95 manual Z or GT ..not YOURS..it has to come from a 5speed
then you can go HERE http://www.moates.net/product_info.php?cPath=50&products_id=169
and use the ostrich emulator to program your pcm however you want!! it works with usb..i have it on my 95 and it is AWSOME!

^^ he didn't say anything about 500WHP lol, no need to spend that much on a new crank.

why do most assume that when one wants a forged LIGHTWEIGHT crank they are buying it merely for strength?

keyword.. LIGHTWEIGHT

give the racing camshaft a try.

252 degrees duration at .050" and .460

numbers look radical but I'm sure it would be fun.
