So...it seems my friend has got himself into one hell of a mess with his car. I know this isn't a J body and should probably be posted in a W body forum or "other cars" forum, but, we kinda need this car done quick, so I figured I would give this route a shot. The car is a 1998 Grand Prix GTP 3800 supercharged series II and basically, the guy that owned it before him jacked it all up. We are wanting to basically rewire the fuel system at the relays...the wires that were going to the relays were
light green
dark green/white stripe
black/white stripe
dark green
brown/white stripe
yellow/black stripe
I have searched EVERYWHERE for a diagram...and none of the diagrams show a brown with white stripe nor a yellow/black stripe wire in the fuel system diagram...but the wires were in fact going to the fuel pump relays....i would like to figure out what these go to...or if someone could give me the rundown on what runs to each tab on each relay, that would be really handy lol. I pretty much have it figured out...i think, but those 2 wires, i have no clue why they are there and what they are for or what they would go to
Any help is very greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

Have not yet checked into a haynes manual...we couldnt find one here locally and I figured they guys that have done the sway probably have all the wires in a diagram or down from doing them lol, so I figured i'd give it a shot...

Contact Nota2.4....... he knows his wiring.
I was thinking about him, hoping he would post lol

Hes mostly in 3rd gen from what I see.
I will send him a msg...
I sent him a PM as well lol

Maybe try "engine electrical" rather than "fuel system" diagrams.
i find it amusing that SHOoff has nothing better to do but follow me around & be an unhelpful dick in even cross-forum. - Jon Mick
I have tried many searches...including that and nothing...why are wiring diagrams so hard to get ahold of?? lol

gimme a sex bud i have a 98 schematic here
tell you this brown and white and yellow and black DON'T GO TO THE FUEL SYSTEM
may need to know where the wires are goin and from as there a a few green wires in GM cars

ok i found the info you need
light green
dark green/white stripe
black/white stripe
dark green
brown/white stripe
yellow/black stripe

Thank ya lol, but what do they all go to?!?!? lol, the weird thing is, the yellow/black stripe and the brown/white stripe were going to the fuel pump relays....any idea what they are supposed to go to? Thanks man, I really appreciate the help

opps hit enter sorry
if you have a light green wire then the car is equiped with the fuel pump Speed Control. theres a white resistor i think on 98 W bodies its on the firewall near the alternator the will be a light green and a grey coming out of that
Start with the fuel pump relay
30 - Light green from the resistor i mentioned above
85 - Dark Green & White this is Fuel Pump Relay control from the PCM (connector 2 Pin 3 (clear connector)
86 - Black & White this goes to the ground junction basicly ground that wire
87 - Orange this is a battery feed comes from fuel pump fuse
87A - this is a fuel pump prime terminal in the fuse block this is just an open ended conector in the fuse block used to prime the pump to override the relay not wire colour listed its whatever GM had really
Fuel Pump Speed Control Relay
30 - Light green connectors to the 30 terminal on the FP relay
85 - Orange this is a battery feed comes from fuel pump fuse
86 - Light Green from the SPD CNT Relay comes from the PCM (connector 1 Pin 39 (blue connector)
87 - Nothing
87A - Grey and goes to the Fuel Pump the grey wire from the resistor connects to this wire aswell
Pump connectors
Connector 1
A - PPL from PCM (level input)
B - Grey wire from Speed control relay
C - Black (Ground)
D - Black & White (Ground)
Connector 2
A - Orange & Black (Ground)
B - Dark Green from PCM Fuel Tank pressure input
C - Grey from PCM 5 volt referance
I have No idea where the interior connectors are on a W body
the is no brown and black wire in the Engien wiring is it Tan and black you sure its brown and not pink and heated up to much and changed colour i have seen the injector pink wires either get too hot and turn white or even brown. that wire doesn't exist double check that for me
yellow and black could be 1 of these
Trans Temp sensor
Shift solenoid B control (2-3 Shift solenoid valve)
Injector 6
every injecotor has 1 pink wire and every injector has a colour with black
1 - Black
2- Light Green & Black
3 - Pink & Black
4 - Light Blue & Black
5 - Black & White
6 - Yellow and Black

note to those attempting the swap this info doesn't pettain to the swap as in the swap we don't run a speed control relay and these are 98 ONLY location and are W body locations Js are different get the right schems for your car and the year and make of engine

Ok, thanks, this helps SOOO much. One thing i am wondering is why the guy ran the yellow/black to the fuel pump relay....thats odd...but also, may explain why the car does not want to shift out of 2nd and into 3rd
As far as the prime terminal, what would I run that to? Maybe thats what the brown and white wire is for? I did check and it appears it is definitely brown/white....whoever was in this wiring before was dumb lol
"Hondas are like tampons, every pussy has one!!!"
You could always go to the wreckers, grab wiring/parts and replace it on the car? Problem solved.
We were going to do that, but we could not find a wiring harness anywhere around here, plus they are pretty low on money, so the idea we came up with was just to rewire the fuel system at the relays, back to the pump, ect. since the pumps had the recall for the wire
"Hondas are like tampons, every pussy has one!!!"
you can use the brown and white for that but make sure its not goin anywhere but relay to the prime make sure that wire isn't goin to the PCM. you may be better off finding a 98 harness and swappin it since the wiring is that messed up
JBO since July 30, 2001
so...i could use the brown/white for prime? Wouldnt the prime wire run to some sort of ignition source? Just not sure what to run the wire for "prime" to
"Hondas are like tampons, every pussy has one!!!"
put the prime wire in Connector 1 PIN B4 thats where its to be factory
this is why when i do a harness if its cut i charge more there too much that can go wrong you would be better off finding a 98 engien harness and swap them out take you probably 2 hours to do all of then then to mess with the fuel system relays

Thus the reason why I paid Matt to mine......... plug and play baby!
so it goes from 87A of the fuel pump relay to the connector 1, PIN B4 on the computer?
Is connector one the clear or the blue? Also, would PIN B4 just be the 4th over on the top row? Wish there was a color for it so I would know....any easier way to wire a prime terminal? The harness is jacked up on the relay side by the junction box, however, by the PCM it seems fine...guy was an idiot lol
"Hondas are like tampons, every pussy has one!!!"
So, turns out the brown/white wire IS the fuel pump prime..looked up where the pin would be you were talking about, hooked power to the end i had, then checked it at the PCM connector with a test light and it lit up...yay!!
"Hondas are like tampons, every pussy has one!!!"
Ok, right now I have the prime to the 87 tab, dark green/white to the 85 tab and the light green off the fuel pump resistor on the fuel pump relay. I have a light green left which was mentioned to what it goes to...but there is a plain dark green that you did not mention in the wiring, does that go to anything??
Also, when you said "Fuel Pump Speed Control Relay
30 - Light green connectors to the 30 terminal on the FP relay"
Does that mean just jump the light green from the resistor over from the FP relay to the speed control relay? Run it to both??
