I live in Rural Ottawa, within the 'city' limits..on a dirt road in middle of nowhere..haha. My phone lines do not support any sort of low/medium/high speed internet, and I of course do not have cable, tv or internet. (satelite all the way)
My internet on home computer says we have a 56k modem, but it only connects at 26.4 kbps. When I download a file/song whatever, the transfer speed is approximately 1.2kbps...uber slow....
So, I just bought a laptop, and am wondering how to get connected. Are there any ways that i can get Internet access that is semi fast?
Bell Unplugged doesn't work, and so far that was the only option, other than straight dialup? I am not sure what to do, or if there is anything I can do??
Any help is greatly appreciated.
My sister lives in Russell and I am not sure about recently, but they had much the same issue. A laptop or wireless won't help you as it is only as good as the network it is linked to via router and high speed connection. Look for an option to use a satellite connection. that's what my sister was doing but it is only high speed in one direction, not sure if that is upload or download?
i found a site yesturday, i think xplornet.com or something...its a wireless/satelite internet provider..they have two way...was just seeing if there were any other sort of option..thanks
