Airride guys need your opinion on my plan!!!!!!!!!!
Monday, October 16, 2006 12:46 AM
Soooooooo I want to lay STOCK side skirt.

I havent really measured any thing yet, just wanted to get some opinions first.

Heres my plan.

Cut spindle bracket off easystreet fronts move up a couple of inches.
Cut inner frame rail and fab in new wheel tubs.
Cut and fab rear tubs
I figure the curved bar under the tranny will get in the way as well so fab a new one of those aswell.

Thoughts.... opinions??????????

If you know how to do that stuff, go for it and let us know how it turns out (don't forget pictures).
If you don't know how to do that stuff, I wouldn't do it.
Completely possible, extremely difficult.

i lay the rear of mine on the ground but i have 205/40/17 and im tubed but that gives you an idea of what to do. my opinon for the rear which is what i want to do. is through some slams back there and relocate shocks back there. the bags would be just like hmm i forgot his name you know who im talking about i think. and the front is a good idea i think. i had someone tell me to do just dont have the tools and @!#$ right now. your trans might keep you also from laying all the way. i say go for it, its more than possilbe. and if the front works for you im gonna have to copy sorry.

oh and i wouldnt trust the easystreet rears with tubed i just blew my 3rd rear bag today. i keep putting holes in them and i think it is cuz i roll to low and its putting alot of stress on the bags. and one more note i am bottoming out the struts so it wont go lower thats why i want to do a bellow bag setup in the rear. just giving you a heads up on what ive found out so far

Awesome thanks for the tips and I WILL take pics of every step!

Yellow22: you are talking about ESB correct? I dont know what he was using as far struts go but you can go lower than his with the stock Easystreet setup.

I am about 1 3/4" away in the front and about 1" in the rear. Do you guys think I may have to pull the fenders?

you cant move up the spindle mounting point because ihe bottomof the strut will hit the axle. to make it easier on yourself just run cylinders in the rear because you can just cut the bracket down as low as you need to go.
the only thing i can think of in the front is to build a control arm to mount to the top of the spindle and use a honda sleeve bag mounted to the lower control arm. If you plate the frame rail to mount the new upper to it will have enough support to hold

I was thinking that may be an issue. I guess I really just need yo see it for myself as I may be able to get a little movement out of them. Either way I will find a way!!!!!!! As for the rear cylinders wont help my problem because I am sitting on the inner well HARD at @ 0psi.

Yellow22 you have any pics of your car on flat pavment laid out in the rear. I would like to see what 0psi tubbed looks like.

oh and yea i was talking about esb. if you do a shock relocator thing like on a truck it would work. esb would have went lower with out the struts in there

I was just thinking about that! I was even thinking the same thing for the front. Just dump the internals in the Easystreet struts, cut the actual shock shorter and reweld it, add an aftermarket shock set up.

Thats cool bro. I think I am either going with AirLift 2B6's or Slam RE6's in the rear.

hey yellow 22 if im reading right you get that low with just smaller tires you have the normal easystreet rear in there??

He also has the rear retubbed. When you slam these cars the wheels are pulled towards the front and hit the fenderwells. So in order to go lower you have to clean out some room....

Here is a pic of what he did:

do not go with airlift, I have them on my truck and regret ever buying them go with the re's You could also go with a bag that is hollow in the center and just cut off the spring perch on the front struts and weld it lower. That's what a shop was going to do for me before i bought the truck to bag.

go and check out http://www.gadomestics.com/

hey yellow does your back seat fit in normal again after doing that .................. wonder if i can "persuade" it to go lower with a sledge lol
Re: Airride guys need your opinion on my plan!!!!!!!!!!
Thursday, October 19, 2006 3:31 PM
no you need alot more room then just hitting with a sledge. i was able to use a sledge in the front for now. i eventually am going to cut @!#$ out in the front too.

but my seat does fit it is really tight but im doing a different rear seat setup so what im doing will be perfect.

HAHA!!!!!!! I found out I am not tubbing the rear! I am gonna extend teh swing arm about 2", which with a 4door it would have been hard to tub anyways. I may just bodydrop the front since I dont drive the car everyday. Make things a lot easier. lol
