gtp axles plug right into the getrag 2000 5 speeds!!!!!!!!!!!!

well i got my gtp axles today and low and behold the male tulip plugs right into the splines of my quaife lsd in my 2000 getrag 5 speed. so that means it will plug into a stock diff too. did anyone else know this? also, if you put the male tulip end onto the gtp axles that has the female tuplip end, the axles is probably the correct length for the drivers side axle. i did the grand am lower control arm swap, with gtp wheel bearings so the drivers side axle would need to be just under an inch longer for this to work.

but i was surprised that it just plugs right in. the dissapointing part is that i thought the gtp tuplip and axle shaft was much bigger and stronger than the stock 2.4 5 speed axles. it seems that the shaft is marginally bigger if at all, and the outside diameter of the tuplip seems the same. maybe the inner workings of the tulip are bigger but i guess not. the outer CV is much bigger, well the shaft where the nut goes on is much bigger, everything else seems to be about the same as the 2000 5 speed axle. so i hope that these will not break.

if all parts were the same from the 2000 2.4 axles and the gtp ones, one could theoritically swap the outer GTP CV end onto the 2.4 axle and have an axle that works, without paying the big buck. i will keep you posted when i dismantle the axles.

For the NWF big brakes you have to use the Jbody inner axle and the Nbody outer for the setup to work. they just clip into place like there supposed to work together

yes, but if you use gtp wheel bearings and not the N ones, then you need to go to the GTP axle. i also want the strongest setup possible!

If you didn't shorten the lower contral arm, and are using the whole GTP axle, what offset do you plan on running for your rims? you're going to have fender clearance issues if you don't get some very high offset rims.
