Eibach Sportlines and Koni Yellows
Thursday, March 15, 2007 5:18 PM
I know this topic has been discussed a lot, but i still can't understand how comfortable is the ride with EIBACH SPORTLINES AND KONI YELLOWS.
Does anyone can let me know, which is the most comfortable way to drop the car, i'm tired how the gap looks, i don't care about the price, i just want a comfortable ride with the best way to drop the car.
i'm riding a '97 2.2L auto.
I'll appreciate your comments and any suggestions.

I've heard that the ride is good to very good. I had a j-body buddy that had sportlines and koni and of course he was in love with them. The thing that you should know about sportlines is that its a big drop. I believe 1.7F and 2.3R and the only struts able to withstand that drop would be Koni Yellows or Tokico D-Specs. Now whats great about the Koni Yellows is that your able to adjust the ride from soft to firm, which i think is a huge plus to getting the ride to the way YOU want. Not sure if D-specs are the same, but i've read that their a good choice as well. Your talking about having the best struts and the one of the top rated springs to make your setup.

Oh but please understand one more thing that I forgot to mention above. That setup your talking about isnt really meant for comfort. Some people think one way is comfortable and some people think another way is comfortable. When we're talking about a drop like that, comfort is more like being able to feel the road with great handling and minimal bounce. Kinda like driving a sports car if ya ask me.

It's an aggressive drop so by design, you're going to bottom out more. Bottoming out isn't comfortable. Other than that though, it's a great setup.

If your primary goal is comfort, then use good struts like Koni Yellow or D-Specs at stock ride height. If you must lower, perform only the minimum drop that you would be satisfied with. Something like the Tein H (1.1/0.9") or Eibach Prokit (1.5") would be more comfortable by default.

For a nice drop with a comfortable ride I recommend Eibach Prokit springs with KYB AGX dampers.

My suggestion is Koni Yellows with Sprint Spring(1.8F & 1.8R)

Koni Yellows with the Road Magnet springs in the GP, very comfortable ride (I got rid of Sportlines on Yellows for the Road Magnet on yellows and never regreated it)

I think I need air... I'm annoyed with my sportlines now. They're okay if your roads are good, but lately I keep hitting these gigantic mother potholes all over and it's effectively @!#$ up my Alpine deck. I want the drop of the sportlines, but comfort of stock, but the nice firmness in the corners of the sportlines... lol I can dream
