How are the brakes connected to the power steering?
Sunday, November 04, 2007 8:00 AM
The other day I did a quick left turn while doing some modest braking. After that, my steering was whining and grinding like a mofo when turning the wheel. This even happened when the car was stopped and you moved the wheel. It goes away after some time after having the car off. Anybody know what kind of connection is there between the power steering and the braking of the car?

They are not connected, just a coincidence.

its NOT a coincidence, its happened to me many times under the same situation.

Fluid level is something that did occur to me earlier, im gonna have to check on that.

only tie between the 2 are the engine , when the PS puts a load on the motor , the vacuum changes

the power booster works off vacuum , if your getting a constant difference , check the check valve at the booster and see if the booster is holding vacuum , engine off pop the check valve outta the booster , if you hear a air rushing sound , its working , if you hear nothing than its bad , or the booster is bad
