When I was drilling the shaft to a 1/2", on the rear mounts, the center shaft slipped out of the mount.
The only thing i can assume...is that I let the bit and shaft get too hot. I did let them cool for a bit, in
between drilling. Are the mounts now garbage or can i still use them?
Is it a sleeve in the mount that came out$
yup the metal sleeve came out.
It depends if the strut shaft can now push the sleeve right through the mount or not. Put the mount on the strut without the spring and push down hard on the mount and compress the strut to see if it pushes the sleeve out of the mount, I think there is a washer under the mount that will not let the strut push through the mount.
The old sleeves will push through quite easily...but i found some sleeves that are bit thicker. I'm gonna try and use a press to put them into the mount. Hopefully this works and yes you use a washer on the top and bottom of the strut mount.
