I just installed my air ride well when I was backing out of my friends driveway my car dropped. turns out I can raise my car but after like 5 mins it will drop right back down very slowly. I have checked the hoses and there is no leaking sound any help or ideas that could fix it. the air ride setup is a piece together set up so its came from all over. they are cylinders if that makes a difference.any help is very much appreciatted thanks.
Take an empty spray bottle and put dish soap in it,mix with water. Spray that on every connection where air line goes to a fitting, the tank etc. If it isnt straight line, spray it, if there is a leak it will bubble. Other than that it could be a dump valve that is sticking, or more than one since its the whole car. If you have a 10 switchbox from say suicide doors you may have a bad switch that is sending a signal to your dump valves. Is your tank losing pressure? If it that could be your problem. If your tank gets too low your bags/cylinders will back feed into the tank, so how much psi is in your tank when this happens?
I wonder if its the switchbox then because the guy I bought it off didnt know how to wire it and he wired it to the best of his knowledge. because all the switchs on it are jacked up we even found two switches on it that only had one wire hooked to it. I'll look for a wireing diagram and hopefully it works
the tank seems like it kept enough air in it im about to go outside and screw with it right now so i'll try the spray bottle with soup in it too Thanks for the help and the quick response.
ok I got the air ride in its all good but where does everyone route their tubing thats coming from the front cylinders my passenger ones good. I ran the drivers on the outside and I guess it was to close to the exhaust I was riding down the road and bam it slammed down. And another question does everyones leak alittle air because mine leaks alittle not to bad we sprayed soup everywhere and its still got a small leak it will drop it down alittle but not to much.
Oh plus is everyones air ride pretty rough even on the smallest bumps????
thanks.
what psi are u riding at.... my front is at 30 and the rear is at 35 psi and its rides soooo smooth
the front rides at like 90 and then when I hit some bumps it will drop down to maybe 80 and then alittle lower. How did you get yours to ride smooth?? mine kinda sounds like the strut mount is slamming but we checked it and everythings ok. We were about to hook the rears up but came accross way to many problems
during installation have any of you had your battery keep dying on you?? I have my front installed and when I came out to my car yesterday my car was drained so I jumped it and let it run for about 30 mins. that was around 2pm last night when I got home from work around midnight the car was dead again. any Ideas? I checked all my wiring and nothings touching.
Could the be power running to it while the cars off and im just not seeing it.
sounds like your compressor is cycling
watch for flying sparks!!!
could it still be cycling if I have it hooked up to a toggle switch...( my pressure switch is defective, it wont shut off I let it run for 8 mins and 15 seconds and still never shut off.)
lol did you adjust the pressure switch and is it wired correctly?
you could have your toggle switch powered to something that is draining your car. try unhooking the toggle switch for the night and see if your car starts the next morning.
ok dumb question how do you adjust a pressure switch i got mine from suicidedoors.com ...........and its wired up correctly my friend thats installed air ride before is helping me out.
I'll try unhooking the switch tonight after my batterys done charging
thanks
My car rides like @!#$ a 90psi too, thats why i ride at 35(front) and 45(rear). I dont bottom out at thouse pressures and the roads around here are utter crap. The lower the pressure in the bag, the better the ride is.
do you ever have your tire rub against you bag or cylinder
My tire will rub against my cylinder if its dropped all the way down. im not sure if it will around 35psi I'll have to check it out tomorrow or this weekend
sounds to me like you have some major wiring oopsies going on there.
Buy a NEW pressure switch that is set to the proper pressure for your compressors.
Wire it properly, and take out that toggle switch.
Make sure it has a switched +12v source so it doesnt turn on when the car is off, and fix the leak in your system.
Your leake from the Cylinders is probably a Bypass....There BAD about it... Fill the cylinder so the car lifts about 2/4 way up(dont LOCK it up or it wont leak)Soak our finger in soapy water then hold it over the lower(reverse flow) port...If air is escaping here your seals are bad.
Worse case could be like my problem and the actual cylinder tube is Out of Round and will never seal again.
Get easy-street rears, Best thing you can do.
I am
how do you replace a seal if its bad chazz?
You have to Unscrew the Cylinder caps...IF they are rebuildable.
If they ARE rebuildable they will have wrench Flats on the Cap to put in a Vice.
However if they are AIM cylinders the Seals are almost impossible to find. Your better off buying a new Cylinder....or Easystreet.....
As for the pressure switch...Do NOT us adjustable....MUCH experience...I toasted 5 Viar 450c's and a 380c because of those @!#$ty switches. I now have 2 480C's tied to a 170-200 Pressure switch...Works PERFECT and Fast (On to off is Under a Minute).
As for your leaks, If your using Push-Loc They are awesome and easy to use, However Use Compression type fittings if you want a full seal...
YEs, you will ALWAYS have leaks...anyone who says otherwise is lying.
Mind you It will be sealed for a day, a week even...but within 30 days, leaks....
ok cool thanks. the toggle switch is whats killing my battery..... I have her up and running right now im going to see if theres a reason why my pressure switch aint working tomorrow maybe my compressor isnt pushing out air as fast as it should be?
You can find the seal inside of the cylinders at a hydralic/ram vendor but you need to take the seal off and bring it in to see if they can match/make something to help you. I did this several times on my sedan, then got smart and did what chazz said and got some bags. I now have bags all the way around but it's only a show car so I never drive it these days.

oh ok sorry at first I didnt get it thanks. i'll have to wait till I get my battery back from autozone. I went outside yesterday to work on it and my battery was completely dead my dome light wouldnt even light up alittle or anything. so I took it to autozone to get it charged and it takes like 5 hours for the optima to fully charge. hopefully I can get outside tomorrow and get working on it again.
