race car suspension

alrighty guys this is going to be my first year racing a 3rd gen on the oval.... we are going to buy the addco front and rear bars as well as do the aluminum control arms from the grand am. when we feel like cheating we will run d specs with whatever spring rate we work out with. we were gogin to make a custom k brace for the front subframe. any other things we should do, what are the best over the counter stock replacement struts(non adjustable)? gr-2?

Instead of making a K brace, we have them for only $69.99

saves a lot of work and time...

I don't have alot of experience with the GR-2s, but I've got the Tokico HPs. They seem to be a little better (firmer) than the GR-2s from what little I've been exposed to the GR-2s. Unless someone on here has a shock dyno (hahaha, yeah riiiight!) all this information would be subjective.

GR-2's are a VERY slight upgrade from stock

True, especially if you paint the remaining portions of the Konis chasis black and then get some grease/oil and dirt/dust (for the road grime look) on it. A quick look like most techs do, they'll hardly ever notice, especially since it's a 4cylinder class. Of course, it all depends on how thourough the track's techs are. (last part is my liability disclamer!)

strut tower braces, poly control arm bushings, poly torsion beam bushings...

i'd get the chassis braced as best as legally possible. it'll allow the suspension to do it's job better.

o its braced, photo and media post of stock car i forgot about the poly bushings, aaron, we are going to be installing a different motor and re routing the exhaust dont know if one of your braces will bolt in, was gonna make it after everything was installed

the problem with the konis and such is that this car will be running 2 divisions one at the local trackf or us to tune it in and one on a new mini stock tour that i am starting, the problem with that is i am the tech official so if my car finishes in the top 5 any of the competitors are allowed to tech my car so they might fint the koni's

We know your driving skills......dont have to worry bout finishing in the top 5.....

just kidding, honestly, I think the konis would be easy to hide beyond recognition.

I did a Koni Sport Kit install for a guy and made the struts look 100% OEM on his request. Still don't really know why but he paid for it so I didn't ask many questions.

All it took was some sandpaper, low gloss black spray paint, dirty shop rags, grease and a 20 mile cruise in the rain (hit some mud for added measure). LOL. You can't tell that he has the Koni struts now...but those Koni springs are noticable being bright blue LOL.

I used to race cars, now I race myself.

Hmm first time someone looks at the top of the strut you are done for, and also lets not forget about the bolt in the end of them where the insert bolts in. If you can't win with the right suspension why race? Plus if people are watching you drive you will not have bounce like everyone else.

do the koni reds have any visible adjusters? If i remember correctly you have to remove them to adjust them...I never had the reds...only the yellows on both cav's

Is your car even technically a Cavy? The adjuster on the Yellows will be a dead giveaway.

I miss my Sunfire, I want it back!
MMMM, HIDs
You will be missed.

I would also recommend a rear tie bar! I make a bolt on kit that works with the addco rear sway bar perfectly. Its $125 plus shipping!

Pm me for details!
